Martin for prosecutor
To the editor:
Danville is in need of an individual to lead the commonwealth’s attorney office into the future in an increasingly difficult environment. In my opinion, James C. “Jim” Martin is the most qualified for this position. He will bring to this position solid education and 18 years previous experience in the office, reaching the rank of senior assistant commonwealth’s attorney. He was actively involved in courtroom prosecution, brief writings and has handled more than 500 cases on appeal during his tenure.
Having had the opportunity to observe him in public presentations and forums during this pre-election period, I have observed his positive manner, sensitivity to victims’ rights while maintaining a solid dedication to seeking severe punishment for repeat and violent offenders. His philosophy of consistently attempting to maintain an assignment of one attorney to a case from beginning to end should provide for an efficiently and effectively managed office.
I personally know Martin to be one who consistently honors his commitments. He dedicates untold volunteer hours to his church, the Danville Symphony and other community organizations amidst a demanding professional schedule.
In my opinion, he is the most qualified choice to continue leading the Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney office in making our community a safe place in which to live. I encourage each citizen to join me in voting for Jim Martin.
