Stupid is as stupid does — and Danville City Council did a whole lot of stupid.
Who in their right minds in the green times that we are living in would pass a law requiring dog mess to be placed in plastic bags? This stuff is natually biodegradable and goes right back in to Mother Earth. Where are all the tree huggers now? Think of the land fills that will be filled up with dog mess and plastic bags?
Maybe we should call City Council on this one and put it to the vote by the “people” of Danville?
Just think, long after we are gone and a new civilization pops up they will go to our land fills to see what we were like. Low and behold they will find many many millions of bagged dog mess. We can only conclude that these people worshipped or at least prized these objects beyond all others.

You’re not really being fair here. This letter was about the ordinance requiring people to clean up after their pets. Perhaps it’s an idictment on our local population that an ordinance of this type needs to be enacted in the first place. Nevertheless, for better or worse, it is now the law.
You are referring to the financial situation at DOVES and God’s Storehouse and those issues have nothing whatsoever to do with this one. (Nor does dogs on chains but I give you that one ‘cause it’s about dogs).
Seems to me, the appropriate thing for you to do would be to write a letter to the editor and express your concern about the newspaper’s coverage, or lack thereof, of those issues you believe warrant such coverage. That would be a better way of calling attention to issues you believe are important. That’s what the author of this letter, E. Wyatt Moore, did.
Actually guys, stupid is as stupid agrees to print…are the folks at the R&B even remotely aware that our domestic abuse and sexual assault shelter known as DOVES is in trouble and needs donations and support? Or that God’s Storehouse is in need of donations in order to move to another location? Or are we only worried about dogs on chains? (sigh)
I know this is going to sound crazy. Call me nuts. But, on this one, I agree with JP.

This letter must win the Forrest Gump Prize for “Stupid is . . .“ Guess Mr. Moore has nothing else to complain about; do you carry poop bags when you walk your dog, Mr. Moore? Hope so, or dish out the $250 (a little steep, I believe).
