He didn’t read the bill
To the editor:
In the editorial, “The right vote, for right now,” (July 5, page A8), the Danville Register & Bee claims Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Fifth District, would not “blindly support a bill that would add hundreds or even thousands of dollars to our energy bills.”
Following the 300-page amendment submitted at 3 a.m., a complete copy of the bill did not exist prior to the vote. If nobody read the bill and completely understood its impact, wouldn’t you have to say he did “blindly support” the bill along with everyone else who voted aye?

Mark. What the heck difference does it make if our congressman read the entire bill or not? He has aides who read and advise. Do you think Bush read everything that went across his desk which he signed? He was too busy reading books (95 in 2006, 51 in 2007 and 40 in 2008) in an effort to get the education he missed while in college.
This is a typical non-issue that Fox News and Rush and other conservatives try to throw into the mix of politics to divert the thinking away from the real issue - we are destroying our earth and need to do something about it. In debate it is called a “red herring”; in the letter above, it is called parroting the foolishness of Fox News and Rush.
Looking over Sawdust’s post, I have realized, now, what gets the GOP upset about the progressive policies of the present administration - change. They want to stay in the past (19th century) using policies that don’t work while living in a fantasy world in which they believe all is right with the world as it is presently (or at least the way the forefathers thought it was using 18th century thinking). It’s as simple as that. Peace.
Of course he “blindly supported” it—he’s a Democrat, marching to the tune of ol’ Hopey-Changey with all of his visions of making life perfect.
