For Booth

To the editor:

I am writing on behalf of J. Wayne Booth. I have known Wayne for more than 30 years and worked in the retail sector with him as well as the Danville Sheriff’s Office.

He has stood the test of time, being a loyal employee honored by the public and inmates alike. He has worked under three sheriffs and has gained knowledge from his dedication and duty.

He is dedicated to improving morale, cutting down on sick leave abuse and has stated the jail needs to get its own house in order before starting public programs. He is well aware that within a short time, the overcrowding issues at the city jail will have to be solved. These issues will have to be solved through the courts, the commonwealth attorney’s office and the state. He is keenly aware of the importance of assigning a person within the department as a grant writer to pursue all available government and state monies to relieve the overcrowding issue. As an effective sheriff, He will assure courtroom security is handled properly and the personnel and inmates alike receive fair treatment. He will also see that civil process is handled properly. Last but not least, He is dedicated to placing key personnel into management positions and continued training of all department employees from the lower ranks to the department supervisors.

A vote for Wayne Booth will ensure a well-rounded department with increased morale and an outstanding working relationship with the city police, magistrates, general district court, juvenile court, circuit court, probation and parole and the many defense lawyers that visit the jail to interview inmates. He is a strong supporter of the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry and allowing inmates to pursue an education and enabling them to return to society with the knowledge needed to maintain a job.

Dedication, honesty and devotion to duty are his key goals. If you as a voting citizen believe in these goals, a vote for J. Wayne Booth on Nov. 3 will assure a better Danville Sheriff’s Office.
