Bad way to legislate
To the editor:
I wonder how long it took Rep. Tom Perriello to read the 1,200-page “crap and trade” bill that he helped pass last week?
Since he has been working double-duty to ensure the views of Southside Virginia are represented in our nation’s capital, I’m sure it only took him a couple of hours. Only an idiot would vote on a bill without fully reading and comprehending the repercussions to his constituents.
Let us hope Sens. Jim Webb and John Warner have the same speed-reading super powers when it is their turn to vote on this disastrous legislation.

This letter, in my humble opinion, is another example of how petty and partisan our political system has become. What is in the cap-and-trade bill is well known, and it is an important beginning to what I hope (as an independent voter) is a serious effort to limit and reduce greenhouse gases that have caused our ozone layer to get so thin that our planet’s long term support of life is in jeopardy. Most voters are sick and tired of all the petty political bickering that has led our nation down the path to so many huge problems that we now have. I’m just glad somebody (no matter which party) is finally doing something concrete and progressive to address them. But letters like this one are what happens when a party’s spokesmen become the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and the like—all of us who are not so extreme are not impressed at all, and not fooled anymore.
Hey Ron on the radio it was said nobody read it just like the stimulus package pass without even reading we are all so *&^%$#
