Attacks unwarranted
To the editor:
Danny Marshall’s campaign has seen fit to question my father’s integrity. A disagreement about tools to recruit badly needed new employers to Southside is not grounds to assert that a man who has served his community in a variety of ways for many years is not telling the truth. It is also cowardly to hide behind a campaign mailer and the written musings of another legislator from outside of Danville.
People trust my father. The National Guard trusted him to be an ammo section chief. I trust my father. I know how he learned the values of honesty and hard work that we share in Southside. He learned many of these lessons while serving his country in the armed forces, as his father did before him — and I am doing now.
Another lesson the Anderson family learned through service is to not let others fight your battles for you. Apparently, this lesson has escaped Del. Marshall, which shouldn’t come as a surprise as he’s never served one day in the military.

I think “CHANGE” is going to happen tomorrow, and I hope that promises made by both parties are not just empty talk like we have listened to for many years!
jaydeebee. At least on that issue we are in very strong agreement. Peace to you, my friend.
Sarah Palin is a moron.
jaydeebee wrote to the son of a local candidate: “Danville politics are not your concern. If you want a voice in the outcome of our elections then move back here, otherwise mind your own backyard.“
Do you feel the same about Ms. Palin, unrelated to McDonnell, Deeds or, likely, anyone else in Virginia, as well? The following was posted an hour ago:
“Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has jumped into the Virginia gubernatorial race today with a robocall that asks voters to ‘vote for Sarah’s principles.‘“
Talk about someone who needs to keep her nose out of Virginia politics. Perhaps her “magic” will work the same way it did for Senator McCain’s presidential campaign - now how did that one work out for them? Hmmmmm….
Peace.
Seward Anderson’s mailers filled my mailbox at least 3 to 1 compared to Marshall’s. Every single one of Anderson’s mailers was an attack on Marshall, his integrity and his judgment.
Anderson took this campaign negative and he will lose on Tuesday because Marshall has done an excellent job for Southside, far better than Seward did for us as a member of Council.
Mr. Anderson (the author of this letter), I cannot help but notice that you no longer are a resident of the area. So of what interest, other than your Dad’s ego, could this election possibly be to you? Danville politics are not your concern. If you want a voice in the outcome of our elections then move back here, otherwise mind your own backyard.
I guess you never received one of your father’s mailers since you live in Georgia. They were typical Democratic bs. No facts checked and slander. If you have a problem with letters helping from outsiders than why are you writing one, that’s right it seems the Anderson’s can dish it out but not take it.
Gloria, how do you know James is being used by his Dad? What a cynical view of life you have; I feel sorry for you.
James. Your father has served this area faithfully and with good results. He has my vote to send him to Richmond to take care of business here that has long been ignored by Del. Marshall.
Your father is a “get it done, now” individual; Del. Marshall follows the attitude of so many in Danville with an attitude of “We’ll get it done - later.“
That attitude so long endorsed by Del. Marshall is not the attitude we need to work for us in Richmond.
Peace.
Am truly sorry that Seward Anderson would use his son to negatively attack Danny Marshall. It appears that James is an outsider trying to sway a local election. Mr. Marshall could have used several negative comments against Mr Anderson, but chose not to. James, evidently, from your comments, there are a lot of things that you don’t know.
I knew him in the Nataional Guard and that is why I never vote for him.
