Palin resigning as Alaska governor

WASILLA, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she is resigning from office.

She didn’t say why she decided to step down, but the surprise announcement stirred speculation that she would focus on a bid for the 2012 Republican nomination for president.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate made the announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla on Friday morning. She said she would step down July 26.

Spokesman Dave Murrow says Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor’s picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month.

Palin was first elected in 2006 on a populist platform. But her popularity has waned as she waged in partisan politics following her return from the presidential campaign.

lady - you have mentioned all of the good that the us has done…and we do alot of good.  however, research some of the things the us has done to other countries and then put yourself in their shoes.  the us has secretly overthrown many, many governments, helped to fund rebels (remember, we sold arms to iran), and have changed the lives of many other people…not necessarily for the better.  do some research and you would be surprised by what has been done by the cia and “secret military”.  iraq is just one example.  afghanistan, iran, guatemala, cuba and the list goes on..
i am proud to be an american…but you have to look at what the us has done on all levels.  if another country had militarily come in to the us to remove bush/palin and set up their own president…how would you feel about that country?  i always try to walk in someone else’s shoes.
...but i digress…on to palin…she put her children in front of the media.  (you didn’t see obama bring his children on the campaign trail.)  when you’re in the media…it seems to be fair game.  and the letterman joke was in poor taste…but it wasn’t meant for the 14 year old as he has explained and apologized.  the palin’s are the ones that kept it in the news…making it a rape a child story.  sarah doesn’t want to be out of the media…if she did, she’d never grant interviews, invite cameras into her home, etc.  she has some culpability in her good/bad press.  don’t feel too sorry for her…she knows how to manipulate.  now if she only showed some worldly smarts…she would probably be unstoppable.

Lady/Wade, I never said I thought Obama was a Moron, I was mentioning a bumper sticker (which I love).

And Wade I never said YOU made a statement about race; I said race had been mentioned in this long blog.

Get your facts straight, if that is possible.  Kinda sounds like a guilty concience to me.

I think that the article was about Palin resigning her post as gov.  How some of you end up calling Obama a moraon is baffling.

There is nothing about Obama that indicates that the man is a moron.  He is a very intelligent man.  There is nothing stupid about him either.  What I do find about the man that I don’t like is that he is dangerous.  He has gone overseas and appologize to the muslims for our past behavior.  I don’t see where we should be sorry and appologize to any of the muslims there, nor should we appologize to anyone else in the world.

If anything there are countries that should appologize to us.  Who is always there to help others in times of need?  Who goes in and feed the hungry in other countries?  Who sends their military to help fight a war that isn’t always our business in the name of freedom?

Who went to war to help save freedom over in Europe?  I am sorry but if anyone feels that we should appologize to anyone for our actions and feel ashamed of our country then they should just go somewhere else to live and shouldn’t be allowed to represent our country much less be a president.

I don’t feel we have anything to appologize for to anyone and feel that it is a slap in the face to our men and women in uniform for the president to go around appologizing for us when we are standing for freedom.

I am proud to be an american!

People had better start waking up though, we are heading for a socialistic country and that is what we have voted into office.  No, Obama isn’t a moron, he is socialistic and I feel that he is dangerous.  We have too much govt. in our lives already, and he wants to add more govt. control.  The govt. is supposed to work for us the people, not the people working for the govt.  WAKE UP.

As far as Palin resigning, I think she has head enough of the nasty public opinion and Letterman’s comments on her daughter seemed to be the last draw.  Hate to see her leave office.  I like Palin and always felt that she was not treated with respect nor were the news media fair to her.  They would never have gone after a man’s family the way they went after hers.  The treatment towards her on CNN was so biased.  Obama and other democrates could do no wrong…Palin couldn’t breath without it turning into a trash the woman for breathing campaign.  The news media and democrates were afraid of her and they went after her and got so nasty that it made me angry.  Even after the election was over with things should have died down, but instead people still tried to trash the woman.  Letterman was one of the worst as he went after a 14 yr. old.  I lost all respect for the man and have no use for him now.

rocknwsc - your most recent post doesn’t make any sense.  How exactly do I blames everyone else for my bile?  How exactly do I act hurt and feign humility?

If I counter somebody else’s argument, point-by-point-by-point, as I have done on this subject (a couple of times now), isn’t that what “debating” is all about.  That you disagree with me on any specific issue is your choice.  Fair enough.  But, just because you disagree with me doesn’t mean that I have to throw in the towel and accept your viewpoint just because it’s your viewpoint and not mine.  How in the world could you ever assume that?

Take for example your post here.  You’ve made absolutely no effort to engage in the discussion (or debate if you prefer that term).  The sole purpose of your last entry is to criticize me, not to challenge my views.  No.  To challenge the way I present them.  Yet, when someone else on this thread used statements, name calling, and insults directed at me, you didn’t say anything.  So, you are only critical of one’s methods if he disagrees with you, right?  Take just a few moments and consider that.  When I see you criticize others for their tone and their style, then I may give consideration to your comments here.  But, until that happens, you really lack the credibility to question anyone’s motives.

No rockit, even if I agreed with you I would still feel the same way about your style of debating. You are always right and must always have the last word. You seem to think you are smarter than everyone else. Your posts are full of derision and ridicule, yet you blame everyone else for your bile. You don’t follow my logic because this behavior is normal for you; it is not normal for others. Please don’t act hurt and feign humility; it’s transparent.

Eeltee.  I made no mention of race.  don’t confuse race with culture.  I asked what makes President Obama a Moron?  That’s a technical term that describes clinical retardation, the aptitude is that of a 7-12 year old.  As for Dr. Manning (you tube), he’s a product of his life experiences and I’m certain there a lot of people who love to hear his opinions.  He does not appear to profess one bit empirical insight, just what he feels.  But, I’m certain he has his following. As for how President Obama became the President, there were many factors, one of which was a distaste for his proposed policies without any substantive, creative, innovative options provided by his opponent(s).

Wade, if that is how you think he became president, you are really being fooled.

There were some comments about race.  Here is a very interesting video on a black minister’s opinion on Obama:

Eeltee,  What makes our President a Moron? No talking points, specifically what makes him so bad?  He has made reasonable proposals and opened discussions in a variety of areas that have been ignored for at least eight years. It’s far too soon to disregard the mess Bush left.  I realize the sooner that page is turned the sooner republicans can begin the political season of 2010,  but moving beyond the problems created in the past eight years by calling the current President a Moron is not going to be that simple A lot of President Obamas proposals have been met with disdain without any substantive counter.  That’s how he became President.  The previous team played very well culturally, but was very short on policy.  Our current President appears to have more substantive policy discussion, but doesn’t cut it with some folks culturally.  You said it we start out with Palin, but some folks will turn any discussion into an “Obama $uck$“ moment.  Without serious thought or analysis that’s their default position.

Wow, we went from a discussion on Palin leaving office to Obama, now to just trashing each other.

But, I have one thing to add here that I find quite relative to all the posts here so far.  My daughter just returned from the beach and one of the things she brought me was a bumper sticker.  Not just any but the GREATEST bumper sticker I have ever seen.  It says:

My child is an Honor Student

But my President

Is a MORON

Ah, smart daughter I have!
