Woman killed in tractor accident

» 1 Comment | Post a Comment

A woman driving a tractor hauling hay after dusk Friday evening was killed when a truck hit her from behind.

Trooper D.C. Yoder of the North Carolina Highway Patrol said Joan McKinney, 51, was headed north on High Rock Road near the Gilliam Road intersection near the Caswell County line about 8 p.m. Friday. Her 2001 John Deere tractor was pulling behind it a trailer loaded with hay when it was struck from behind by a 1979 Chevrolet truck driven by William Frank Lynn of Reidsville.

Yoder said the tractor had lights and reflectors, but the trailer did not. The hay piled on the trailer prevented the tractor’s lights from being seen, he said.

When the trailer was struck, it hit McKinney. Yoder said McKinney was thrown from the tractor, but it was the blow from the trailer that killed her.

Yoder said no charges have been filed in the accident, but Lynn was cited for not having insurance on his truck.

This is just sad!  I am sorry for the loss of life.  When you get a moment please go to www.dangeroustrailers.org and look for the “Reflector Tape law In VA” on the left.

Please note… that maybe…just maybe if we had a law in every state that mandated that all trailers must have DOT Type c-2 tape on the back then maybe this life would not have been lost

Please note That Delegate Pollard in Virginia Tried to destroy the law… he failed but he was successful in stopping our efforts on a nationwide level

Please note that last year in North Carolina this happened…

It is now HAUNTED HAYRIDE SEASON… who is going to be next?  We are trying to prevent someone else from loosing their life.
