Rockingham County teen charged with DWI following car chase

A Rockingham County teen faces multiple charges, including DWI, after leading law enforcement authorities on a chase Tuesday night.
Derrike Glenn Bullings, 16, was charged with felony flee to elude motor vehicle, failure to heed to blue light and siren, resisting public officer, no operator’s license, driving while intoxicated, and driving after drinking by a person under age 21.
According to a report from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s deputies were conducting a license check at the intersection of Janet and Ledbetter roads in Mayodan at about 9:52 p.m. Tuesday when a dark-colored vehicle approached and the driver began to speed up. A chase ensued and reached speeds of 80 miles per hour. The driver tried to turn onto Bellville Road, but the vehicle came to rest in a wooded area. The driver jumped into the back seat but was found and charged with the offenses listed above.
Deputies said Megan Anne Priddy, 21, was a passenger in the vehicle and is listed as its owner. Priddy was charged with aid/abet for driving while intoxicated and giving a malt beverage to a person under age 21. Priddy has a $1,500 bond. Bullings has a $3,000 bond.
