The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Wednesday death of a man they say suffered a gunshot wound.

STONEVILLE, N.C. — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Wednesday death of a man they say suffered a gunshot wound.

Police received a call at 2:02 p.m. Wednesday at 340 Young Road in Stoneville, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Deputy Chris Barnes and Shiloh Fireman Curtis Bolick arrived on scene within minutes to find a while male lying in the backyard of the residence, with no signs of life, and suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as Mark R. Williams, 40, of 151 Carmel Drive in Stoneville.

Detectives have begun an investigation and will interview two men found at the scene, the release stated.

Were the other guys actually FOUND at the scene or were they the ones that called the police to report the incident?
