A Reidsville man was charged Friday with torturing and beating a dog.
Joseph Wesley Sharpe, 47, of 581 Hwy. 150 in Reidsville, was arrested, and given a $2,000 bail. He faces felony cruelty to animal charges.
At 4:14 p.m. Friday, Deputy Jon Peters of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of animal abuse. He was met by a child’s screams.
An investigation is accused of choking his daughter’s dog and using a metal ball bat to strike the dog in the head.
The dog was treated and should live, a veterinarian said.

A bunch of animal lovers should get together and take this lowlife outside and give him a good old fashioned beating.Anyone who will do that to an animal, will do it to a child. He needs to be watched.
This is a shame…what the heck is wrong with people?
I hope someone has the sense to remove this animal and any others that may be in this monster’s home.
What a big man….I want just 30 seconds with him….and a bat.
He made bail…..OMG I hope he don’t go back and harm his child too! Sicko!!
He deserves to be choked and beat with a bat himself!!!
it takes a low life scumbag to hurt a poor dog like that,I suppose he’s too sissyfied to go up against a real human being! Too bad that dog didn’t bite him! There’s some sick people in this world!
