A Mayodan man has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a 12-year-old child.

Kevin Dwayne Gusler, 26, of 276 Brewer Road, was charged with indecent liberties with a child and second degree kidnapping on Wednesday evening after the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an incident that occurred in Madison involving Gulser and the child.

According to a narrative from the sheriff’s office, the child was visiting friends when he accepted an offer to go fishing with one of his friends’ acquaintances, Gusler. After spending a short while at the river, Gusler took the child back to his house and committed “lewd and lascivious acts.” The child resisted the acts but was overpowered by Gusler. Gusler and the child left the residence and Gusler continued to make unwanted advances toward the child while in the car. The child took a baseball bat from inside the car and defended himself. Gusler stopped the car and the child, armed with the baseball bat, got out of the car and refused to get back into the car. The child later reported the incident to family.

Detective Dan Hardy charged Gusler and found that there were outstanding criminal summons pending against Gusler for injury to personal property and animal cruelty. Gusler’s bond was set at $250,000.

talon is right. remember ted haggart (one example of many)? being religious does not preclude you from breaking laws, cheating on your spouse, or substance abuse.

I believe that someone claiming only “Godless” people act in this manner don’t watch the national news.

As a matter of fact in response to the last comment, we are becoming more and more a “Godless” nation, and this sicko is just another prime example of it.It goes all the way from scum like this all the way up to the White House. And I won’t go any farther than that although I would love to.

people….are we not a christian nation??? we should all be on our knees and praying for all these people…supposed victim, all family members on both sides and YES even the supposed offender !!! There are alot of innocent bystanders in this tragic situation…YES this is a horrible, unspeakable “alledged” crime but not one of us has the right to point and blame, but we all have the right to pray, and we should use it!! May GOD BLESS all of you !!!!

Put this man in jail for life. He is an animal. This happen to me when i was 12 years old. No one did anything about it. The man who did it to me has never ever been investigated, or has ever spent a second in jail. So this animal doesn’t deserve another free day in his life. If he wonts to find God let him find him in prison.
