Labor of love pays off for local author

For local author Jill Mabry Langley, a project that began nine years ago has finally reached fruition.
On Thursday, Langley will hold a book signing at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble in the Friendly Shopping Center in Greensboro, marking the second signing of her mystery fiction novel “From the Case Files of Hannah Jordan: Fulfilled Justice.”
The novel is the first one that has been published in a series of six. She began writing the book in 2000, but putting pen to paper is not a new hobby for Langley.
“I’ve written poetry all my life,” she said, but when it came to writing a mystery, Langley drew upon her childhood for inspiration.
“I always loved Nancy Drew when I was growing up,” she said.
The book tells the story of Hannah Jordan, a private investigator. Each book in the series is based on one of the fictional character’s case files.
“She’s the most brilliant private investigator out there,” Langley said.
Langley, who is a lifelong resident of Rockingham County, wrote the book under the pen name CJ Lange, which she said is a combination of her birth name and married name.
The book is available from Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and publishamerica.com. Langley said the owners of Ed A. Gunn Stationers also have the book for sale in their store.
Langley, along with six other local authors, held a book signing earlier this year at the Reidsville Public Library.
