Some performers at the Grammy Awards walked away from the 51st annual event held Sunday in Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center with a golden grammaphone. But all of the performers, as well as the presenters, went home with a taste of Madison.

Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine, produced by Madison-based Piedmont Distillers, was selected by Distinctive Assets as the exclusive spirit in this year’s Grammy Gift Bag.

“We’re honored that we’ve been invited to participate in such a prestigious event,” said Joe Michalek, founder and president of Piedmont Distillers, in a release.  “Catdaddy is a one-of-a-kind spirit that we feel is a perfect complement to the creativity and self-expression that’s celebrated during the Grammy Awards.”
Distilled in the heart of North Carolina by the only legal spirits distillery in the state, Catdaddy embraces the artistry, folklore and craft of its illegal cousins, according to Michalek.  Even the name is entrenched in history.  Legend has it only the best moonshine earned the right to be called “The Catdaddy,” Michalek said.
Every batch of Catdaddy, which is made from American corn, is born in an authentic, copper still and is crafted in small batches. Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine is now available in liquor stores, bars and restaurants in 16 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.
