Eden teen faces rape charges
Published: October 25, 2009
An Eden teenager has been arrested on first-degree rape charges.
According to a police report, on Oct. 18, a woman reported that her 12-year-old daughter was sexually active with a 17 year-old male. The teen was identified as Christopher Burston of 1106 Irving Ave.
On Tuesday, Burston was arrested by investigators at his home. During the arrest, the report said, an investigator conducted a search of Burston and collected a cell phone. The cell phone was placed to the side by the investigator.
As he continued his search, Burston’s mother, Brandie Jumper, grabbed the cell phone and refused to give it back to the detective upon his request.
The investigator placed the mother under arrest and charged her with obstructing and delaying a law enforcement officer. Jumper resisted by jerking away, and a struggle pursued.
During the struggle, the report said, Burston jumped on the investigator’s back and punched him twice in the back of the head. The assault forced all parties to fall to the ground, and a second officer was able to gain control of Burston and handcuff him. The mother was drive-stunned with a taser and officers were able to handcuff her. The investigator sustained minor injuries which consisted of scratches and abrasions.
Jumper was charged with resisting and obstructing a public officer and was released under a $1,500 unsecured bond. She is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on Wednesday.
Burston was charged with first degree rape, assault on a government official, and an outstanding warrant for trespassing. According to the rape warrant obtained by investigators, Burston unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did carnally know and abuse a child under the age of 13.
The outstanding warrant of trespassing alleged Burston on Feb. 27 unlawfully, willfully and without authorization entered and remained on the premises of Morehead High School. Burston was confined in the Rockingham County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond, and he is scheduled to appear in Wentworth District Court on Wednesday.

I don’t totally blame the boy, the girls’ parents, need to be held accountable, she needs some “home raising!“ My 12 yr old Daughter would be doing this, if I could help it. But like others have said, kids know so much these days, it’s best to give them alternatives, be there for them, don’t let them have enough free time to go have sex at that young age.
I no the whole situation and this is how it went the 12 year old girl told cj that she was 16 and he believed her ut still they should not have been having sex you can not blame it all on the boy little girls these days no everything…
Isn’t this another fine example of our government raising another family.
Why wasn’t this so called mother charged with assault on a police officer.
By her actions alone can tell you why her thug son is a rapist. No home raising.
A child cannot raise himself to have morales.
That trash prolly had him when she was 12 an she doesnt think anything is wrong with it.. They both just got in trouble with the police in Feb didnt they? Wonderful role model she is..
Looks like mom might have been trying to cover her son’s butt, because she knew what they might find on that cell phone…
So mom is trying to save the cell phone? Evidently Verizon isn’t her carrier. To bad her son’s behavior wasn’t a priority. Wonder what her reaction would have been if the 12 year old girl was her child?
