Hospital, City Council set time of Thursday’s meeting

Veterans honored at service in Dan Daniel Memorial Park
Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan were honored during an hour-long ceremony on a sunny and unseasonably warm Saturday morning at the Danville-Pittsylvania Veterans Memorial in Dan Daniel Memorial Park, and a crowd of nearly 100 attended the service, sponsored by the American Legion Memorial Post 325 and the Danville Area Veterans Council.
Improving local health care service
Danville-Pittsylvania County is listed as a medically underserved area, according to the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration. Some parts of the area also are designated as low-income population and geographic health professional shortage areas.

City Councilman Adam Tomer is calling for an investigation of a city payment of nearly $500,000 in extra incentive money for Coleman MarketPlace that was not approved by Danville City Council.
H1N1 vaccinations under way in Dan River Region
The Pittsylvania-Danville Health District has partnered with schools to successfully vaccinate several area schools with H1N1 vaccine, said Dr. Charles Devine, health director.
