REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A man from Cascade, Va., driving a Ford pickup truck was killed Sunday evening when he ran off the road.

Sgt. S.L. Wagner of the North Carolina Highway Patrol said Donald Ray Jones, 71, was traveling west on N.C. 700 just across the Caswell County line, when he ran off the road to the right. Wagner said Jones overcorrected when the truck returned to the highway, which caused him to slide off the road again to the right. This caused him to collide with a fence before coming to rest against two trees.

Trooper B.W. Earles was a responding officer and Wagner was the supervisor on scene. They received the call at about 6:37 p.m.

At this time, Wagner said, alcohol involvement is unknown and speed was not a factor in the accident.
