Three juveniles arrested following DCC lockdown
White trucks and vans with DCC logos blocked all entrances to the Danville Community College’s campus Wednesday morning as police searched for an armed juvenile and students slowed their cars to a confused stop when waived off by rain-soaked campus employees.
Administrators and police locked down the school Wednesday morning after reports that three juveniles — one with a gun — were running through campus, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.
Three suspects were arrested at Cardinal Village, a public housing project that lies behind DCC.
Officers arrived on campus about 8:47 a.m. after receiving the 911 calls. The dispatcher gave the police a description: three males, one with a rifle and one with a baseball bat. The juveniles were first seen near the Temple Building on campus.
While searching the campus, police found that someone had broken into students’ cars and that a gun was missing from one them. Then a shots-fired call sent police to Cardinal Village, where they found a car that had been shot.
One witness said he saw an officer with a black shotgun sprint up a hill toward the housing project.
Police found the juveniles hiding in the apartment complex off Cardinal Place. Officers held them in handcuffs on the front porch while they searched the apartment and found the missing gun. One juvenile rested his head on the red brick of the building while an officer asked him questions.
Neighbors watched from their doorways and on their front steps, trying to avoid the heavy rain and gusting winds. Some neighbors said they heard several shots before police arrived.
No one was injured during the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Oy Randall, you just don’t get it! Why are you bringing up points that have NOTHING to do with anything I said? I’m not hard headed. I am opinionated, I have a right to express that opinion and it’s not up to you to decide if I’m right or wrong. It’s as simple as that. When you can come up with a RELEVANT situation that would prove your point, I will be glad to listen. However, you haven’t done this. How does a gun stolen in a carjacking have anything to do with my disapproval of a student having a gun on campus? Not to mention the gun was left UNATTENDED. If I’d been carjacked when I purchased the gun I would have been WITH THE GUN. It would have been under my supervision. Can’t you get that??? What is so hard to comprehend about that? How can you supervise what is happening with your gun if it is in an unsecure location? A car is susceptible to break-ins and the only barrier protecting it is the windows!!! How hard is it to break a window? How much harder is it to break into a home with an alarm system? How much harder is it to break into a safe? I’ll go ahead and answer for you. A LOT! Get off of your high horse. I didn’t know there was a judge of right/wrong opinions. In fact, I didn’t know there were right and wrong opinions. Seriously, find something relevant to say. Once again: YOU ARE REACHING TO THE POINT OF IRRELEVANCE TO FIND A POINT TO PROVE ME WRONG AND AS A RESULT YOU ARE ONLY CREATING TANGENTS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING I SAID.
Colie08 there is no getting away with it. When you’re gun was bought, it was transported in a vehicle. You could have been carjacked while doing so, and the gun could have been stolen. Might as well admit it and let it go. If the student had committed a crime in his style of possession, then he would have been charged. I haven’t read that anywhere, have you? You are hard headed, and I respect that up to a point. But you are in the wrong THIS time.
And yet another gun crime….The armed robbery at mall drive….
20-year-old Shauntra Poole at the Pleasant View Apartments complex. Police arrested Poole and charged him with armed robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony for his role in the robbery,
Well Randall, you’re full of question. The quick answer is: No. We do not take our house with us when we go to the mountains. It’s not on wheels, so that would be hard to do. Oh yeah, and we DON’T TAKE OUR GUN EITHER. It’s our house gun so it stays in the house. When we travel, we lock it away in a safe and make sure our home is secure. This process has worked well with us so far, so keep your fingers crossed! We really just shoot at targets and skeet with our host’s guns. Since we don’t travel with weapons in our car, we really don’t have to worry about it when we take bathroom breaks while travelling. Oh, and the mountains we go to are only a few hours away so we don’t usually need bathroom breaks. Our cars get great gas mileage so it only takes one fill-up before hitting the road. Thanks for asking…
Wow, you really reached out of range on that one. Took me on a crazy tangent!
The Other Guy- You are right. I can’t deny the truth. Blacks are killing alot here lately. A human life is worthless to these thugs and should be treated the same if convicted. Got your feathers up, didn’t I?

“It always strikes me as funny that when a person speaks ONLY FACTUAL TRUTHS, that the whiners always want to call you names or try to make an argument over an entirely different matter. The FACTS are that all these crimes are BLACK on BLACK, mostly by TEENS who are underage…...Where are the parents of these kids, do they even care?? “
