Tea Party Patriots organizing protest
DANVILLE — The Tea Party Patriots, a group that organized Danville’s Fourth of July Tea Party, is planning yet another protest — this time specifically against government-run health care.
Scheduled to gather at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the grassroots activists will convene at the local offices of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, and U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., at 308 Craghead St. Other groups nationwide are gathering simultaneously in protest of socialized medicine, according to a news release.
The “Health Care Freedom” Tea Party is open to residents of Danville and the surrounding areas. Visit http://www.teapartypatriots.org for more information.

Maybe they will find out if Perriello and Warner will be the first in line to give up their congressional health plan and sign up for the new one.
I hope attendance at this TP exceeds everyones wildest imaginations. Let’s have one every week. People are fed up. Real, Great Americans only. Rights are being infringed upon. Freedom is at stake. My way of life is at stake. The silent majority is silent no more. We will rise up from the depths of tyrannical rule. Obama is a mad socialist. He’s looking to use a pubilc health care system that will bankrupt the country. “...from my cold dead hand…“ etc. The problem with these concepts is that they have no wings. President Obamas health care proposal will be a matter of constuctive bipartisan debate. Most people with limited income, significant chronic health problems (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) in rural areas will probably benefit if he can get people to see beyond “pop news sources”. He has made a wonderful choice for Surgeon General, but some will never appreciate her for her value especially to small towns with limited resources. The majority in this country has never had their control threatened. The majority in this country has never had their rights compromised. Control of resources, decision-making and all aspects of adminstration, legislation and judiciary processes has been the norm for the majority. Everything that concerns President Obama has been criticized, but he continues to rise to the occassion. Healthcare is just the latest attempt to thwart his presidency. The notion of powersharing with the new majority has made some people nervous. The old majority in this country does not have a great track record on matters of domestic human rights, especially in the areas like Danville and surrounding areas. I guess if I beat a dog all of its life I would worry about that dog coming back to bite me one day too.
The problem with our country now is that there are too many people who don’t appreciate or respect the constitutional rights we are so fortunate to have in this country. Rights which inable us to have free thought and free speech, to be individuals; the right to peaceful assembly particularly when we feel our representatives in government are not representing us. Rights that multiple thousands of our forefathers died to secure for us so that we would never have to be subjugated by a government or a religion or an ideology we don’t believe in. That is what makes America great and that is what the Tea Party movement is about. Standing up for our Constitution and the rights endowed by it. And then of course there are those who appreciate those rights only when theif viewpoint is agreed with.
If they are having free hotdogs I’ll go.
