DANVILLE — The Tea Party Patriots, a group that organized Danville’s Fourth of July Tea Party, is planning yet another protest — this time specifically against government-run health care.

Scheduled to gather at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the grassroots activists will convene at the local offices of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, and U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., at 308 Craghead St. Other groups nationwide are gathering simultaneously in protest of socialized medicine, according to a news release.

The “Health Care Freedom” Tea Party is open to residents of Danville and the surrounding areas. Visit http://www.teapartypatriots.org for more information.

How about a little evidence that “change” is in the air. Check out the latest poll results that say voters trust the Republicans more than Democrats on 8 out of 10 issues.

Just think, it only took six months for things to swing back to the other side. Also, the approval ratings of Obama are sinking lower and lower every day. People are beginning to wake up!

It wasn’t just the Bush administration that created this mess, although the media would never let anyone know that. A lot of this mess goes back to Clinton.

In six months, Obama has already broken several promises. I don’t need to wait another 3 years and 6 months to know what else is in store.

Ok, here we go with the comparisons. Obama may be an excellent speaker, but does he really know what he is talking about? He is excellent at dodging questions and saying what he wants you to hear, like all politicians are. Obama is also uneducated in these same areas, the only experience he had was a couple of years as a US senator, of which most of that time was when he was campaigning for president. Palin is not a quitter, the media has tried and tried to destroy her ever since she came on the scene because they are afraid of her. By afraid, I am saying that they know if she has an equal chance, she would destroy any democrats chance at any office. We don’t know what she has in store, and I think it was a mature decision to pass the torch instead of becoming a “lame duck” governor. Obama is not a beauty queen winner, that’s for sure, and he was elected by the media, not us. If he had been covered as negatively as every other candidate, there is no way he would have been elected… and there was plenty of negative information about him that could have been covered.

I support the tea parties and am not, as I’m sure most of the others are not, receiving any government handouts. I sure am paying for some though. You need to look in the mirror of your own party to see who is really getting the “handouts”. By increasing the peoples dependence on these handouts, who is really holding who back? It’s about the equivalent of giving a drunk a drink.

Just who do the democrats have??? There are already a few who are in trouble, and will not be re-elected!

Grim.  2010 isn’t here yet.  Give the President and the Democrats more than 6 months to undo the mess the Bush administration left the nation in.

And Grim - what a foolish question?  Here are some answers:  Sarah Palin is inarticulate (she rambles to a point of no one being able to understand her major point); SP is under educated in domestic and foreign affairs; SP is a beauty queen winner; SP is a quitter.  How about those just for a starter?

Another “TEA Party?“  This time against government run health care?  SpencerO got it right.  The old fogies who will turn out for this “party” are already milking the government for every “entitlement” they can get. Sarah Palin and “TEA Parties” are the best the GOP has - 2010 should be another shoe-in for the Democrats.  Peace.

What can be said about Sarah Palin that can’t be said about Obama? I just hope somebody with some sense steps up to the plate.

These so-called Tea Party Patriots are nothing more than an embarrassement to Virginia. The founding fathers must be rolling in their collective graves.

How ignorant a statement is that? Our founding fathers are the ones who secured our rights to protest against the excesses of our government. The only embarrassment here is you VaDemocrat!

Grim, I don’t think the Republicans have a clue. If Sarah Palin is their best hope, Obama will win again, no matter what he does.

I’m glad to see that more and more people are starting to wake up and come to their senses. The 2010 elections should be interesting, to say the least. I think that the majority will be shifting back to the right as people are seeing that the Democrats don’t have the magic wand that everyone thought they had. Obama has already broken promises that he made while he was campaigning, so the 2012 election should be pretty interesting too. On that note, I’m not saying that the Republicans have all the answers either… for me it’s just become a matter of voting for the lesser of two evils, and it is a shame that our country has come to this.

I wonder how many of these “tea party” people are collecting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits or any other sort of “government help.“ Here are the facts: The US spends more money per capita on health care than any other country in the world, and with poor results. The life expectancy in the US (predicted for the years 2005-2010) 78.2, placing it 41st. All of those “socialist” European countries are ahead of us. The US spends 15.1 per cent of its GDP on health care while most of Europe spends nine to ten percent. There is nothing “evil” about a single payer system. Is anyone stupid enough to believe that the insurance company has ones best interests at heart in determining benfits? I would hope not. Insurance companies are out to make a profit. Therefore, premiums must (overall) exceed the cost of the services provided. For that reason, single payer health care would be less expensive all around. And, just a word of advice to the tea-partiers: go easy on the tea. It is the reason that the South is known as the “kidney stone belt”.  Too much tea.

Please continue to host these TP’s.  This will help immensely with the 2010 / 2012 elections of intelligent, innovative public servents who are prepared to turn the page on the past and move into the wonders of the future.
