Tea Party Patriots organizing protest
DANVILLE — The Tea Party Patriots, a group that organized Danville’s Fourth of July Tea Party, is planning yet another protest — this time specifically against government-run health care.
Scheduled to gather at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the grassroots activists will convene at the local offices of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, and U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., at 308 Craghead St. Other groups nationwide are gathering simultaneously in protest of socialized medicine, according to a news release.
The “Health Care Freedom” Tea Party is open to residents of Danville and the surrounding areas. Visit http://www.teapartypatriots.org for more information.

Here we go with the insults. Typical liberal…
“Grim” and “ravencottage”, I understand. Just sit tight, pretty soon we’ll get the Presidents Health Care Plan in place so we can get you all some mental care :)
Oh, so now that bridge collapsing was Bush’s fault too. Hadn’t heard that one yet. That’s part of the big problem… too many people are dependent on the Federal Government to solve their problems. Go ahead and tell me that Bush sent Hurricane Katrina through New Orleans with his weather machine too, while you are at it.
When Al Gore won a Nobel Prize for his CON, I lost any sort of respect I may have had for that award… so you are right Obama probably will win one, too. Al Gore is a genius for coming up with that one, and it has made him extremely wealthy. We are pretty bold as humans to believe that we can change what the Earth is going to do on it’s own. Climate change has happened for millions of years, and it will continue to happen for millions of years. Have we contributed to it at all? Maybe slightly, but unless we can get countries like China and India on board, which they are not, it is a lost cause and a waste of time.
As for Fox writing “fluff” and everyone else reporting factual information… ha, you keep beLIEving that. How many times were reports made on Bush proved to be inaccurate? Sure, he made some mistakes just like Obama will, but you won’t see nearly the coverage on Obama’s mistakes by any of the “mainstream media”.
No matter what happens, thank goodness we live in a country where we are free to debate back and forth. We are probably a lot alike in some ways. I’m sure you feel the same when you listen to Fox news or Rush, as I do when I listen to MSNBC or Bill Maher.
JP…you must own a farm around here due to all the cow***t and bull***t you come up with everyday. Maybe you can send some of it up to Michelle to use for fertilizer on that phony vegetable garden at the White House.
liberalgirl. Good to have your input here.
Grim. You know the idea of “tax and spend” is far superior to what the previous administration did - they spent and didn’t have revenue coming in because they gave substantial tax breaks to the rich. That’s kind of like maxing out your credit cards (which we did, under Bush - the Chinese equivalent of the VISA card) when you have no additional income coming in and you are living beyond your means. And, the GOP harps on the children and the grandchildren paying for our spending - that is Bush think, no Obama think. We, this generation, can pay the debt, but there are so many, especially members of the “Say NO!“ party and the so-called “TEA” party who don’t want to pay as we go - the “Family Values” (wow, what a joke that is with Palin, Sanford, Ensign, et.al.) party wants
keep their wealth and let infrastructure deteriorate (remember the bridge in Minneapolis a few years ago under the Bush watch), the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, and move American values back to the 50s (think about that - in the South, the 50s values were of a segregationist view, and check out which states are predominantly red now).
As for comparing Obama to a Nobel Prize winner, my guess is that that will happen either during his presidency or shortly afterwards. He is of a world class calibre; the only thing Ms. Palin knows about calibre is the size of bullets used to shoot moose. And, since you only commented on my comparison of Obama to a Nobel Prize winner and didn’t say anything about my comparison of Sarah Palin to a 1st grade science teacher, I assume you agree with that comparison. Also, I’ll bet you wouldn’t have thought Al Gore would have won the Nobel Prize; who is brainwashed?
As for Bush being “dogged” by all the media except Fox. There is a reason for that - the so-called “main stream media” (excluding Fox News) wrote factual stories based upon extensive investigation; Fox News wrote fluff. “Fair and Balanced?“
By the way - speaking of the economy - the stock market was up today - over 200 pts. on the Dow; and over 60 pts. on NASDAQ. Wonder where the economy would be if McCain had been elected; even worse, if McCain had been elected, left office through death or another reason, and Sarah Palin had become president - parish the thought. Peace.
Well, I can see I am not going to be able to convince you of anything different than you already believe, and you are not going to convince me of anything I don’t believe, so I’ll leave it at that.
Truthfully, I don’t trust 99% of our current politicians. Like I said earlier, sometimes you just have to pick the lesser of the two evils. If you believe Obama is going to change America for the better, good for you. I don’t. I hope he does, for the sake of our country, I just believe he is making a lot of mistakes that we will pay dearly for. Unlike most liberals who would love to see something bad happen to Bush, Palin, or whoever the Republican is who happens to be in the spotlight at the time, I don’t wish any harm on anyone no matter if I agree or disagree with them. I may not like them, or see how anyone could like someone like Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, the Clintons, Gore, (just to name a few) but I do not hope that they fail since it would be bad for the country.
I know the poll stats, and like I said he is dropping more every day in his approval ratings. As for the government handouts, I think you and I both know the kind of handouts I was referring to. Lets not start the conversation on spending, I think we all know who traditionally spends and taxes more. It’s the same people who want a second “stimulus” plan already when the first one hasn’t even been given a chance yet. Like the saying goes, never let a good crisis go to waste… and this administration is not. They are spending a lot of our money under the guise that it is to improve the economy. The first step to getting out of a hole is to stop digging, and I don’t see them dropping the shovel anytime soon.
As for you comparing Obama to a Nobel Prize winner, you really have been brainwashed… congratulations. Also comparing the negativism that Bush went through from the media to what Obama is going through is a joke. Obama only has one major network that brings to light the things he does, Bush had EVERY single network but Fox news against him so how would his ratings not be low? Obama’s ratings will keep dropping, just watch, which is amazing considering that most of the media thinks he can do no wrong. We’ll see who the sore losers are in 2010 and 2012.
WOW!I’ve had the best time reading all of these comments:some being right on the mark & some out in space.Jackson Pollock-you are so right on the mark, but Grim seems to be trying his hand at fiction.I laughed when I read his comment about hoping that someone with sense steps up to the plate…we elected that someone last Nov.,his name is Barack Obama.Pshakcomtech is the uneducated one when he says that the same uneducated people that voted for Obama are the ones that are for healthcare. As I recall, the polls stated that more college graduates voted for Obama than did McCain.Wadesco…I just hope it’s a really “BIG DOG.“Shortcake says they will come to the"tea farce"if they serve free hot dogs..I hear they are serving “PORK”..GOP famous for that, just ask Ted Stevens. As for Sarah Palin,I know Letterman is happy! If her mouth is moving, she is saying something totally incoherient..looks like the lipstick on the pit bull has faded.I really hope the republicans continue their tyrate over every little thing. It only makes them look like sore losers & guarantees Democrats victory for a long time in the future.
Grim. Bush had 8 years to clean up the mess if it started under Clinton; give President Obama at least another year and a half.
Name the promises Obama has broken in the six months. Then, look at the promises and see if those might partially be blamed on a contrary congress and not the executive branch.
As for Palin, it is obvious what she has in store - she quit the $200,000 a year job knowing that she can earn that amount in a week in personal appearances and as a talking head on Fox News. It is all about the money. She is a quitter for self-serving purposes - her checkbook. That is NOT a noble calling.
Uh . . . Grim. Do you drive on our highways? Interstate highways? Those are federally funded by your tax dollars. Each day, my friend, you are a recipient of government handouts (federally subsidized farmers keep the cost of food down in the grocery store, for example; the safety of your drugs and food are monitored by the federal government with taxes).
Of course, the poster boy for federal handouts has to be the former senator from Alaska, Republican Ted Stevens with his multi-million dollar bridge to no where; of course, that was under Bush, and the GOP party was spending and spending like drunken sailors, and there was no tea party. And Governor Palin was for the bridge before she was against it.
And to try to compare Obama with Palin is like comparing a Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry with a first grade science teacher. Both provide services to the community at large, but one is just not qualified to compete on a national or international level.
Look at Rassmussen closer, my friend. Overall, 53% of Americans approve of the President’s job; Gallup has the job approval rating at over 60%. With the negativisms being spat out by Fox News and Rush, that’s not a bad rating. Bush went below a 30% approval rating.
wadesco. Nicely put. Excellent post. We do need to work with our President and, unlike some right-wing commentators, hope that the President doesn’t fail; if he fails, we all fail. Peace.
I hear a lot of complaints about our nations President, and that’s fine. He’s in the seat, let him take the heat. But, seldom are the criticisms accompanied by alternative solutions. My professional development has always relied on the premise that if you have a complaint you’d better have a solution. I view a lot of FOX and MSNBC, I read WSJ and the Post, I listen to Rush and Michael Baisden so I get a pretty diverse mix of opinions.
What I come away with at the end of the day is a demographic that has lost its majority and doesn’t want to acknowledge its loss. The numbers have shifted and so have political opinions. This population shift was predicted and I didn’t know how it would play out, but I guess we’re here now to watch the culture wars unfold. It’s pretty sad to see people try so hard to hold on to a bygone era. What conservative republicans are trying to revive in 2010 and 2012 is gone. Don’t worry, your kids and grand kids are going to be fine, you will always get to keep your guns and NASCAR is going to grow into the future. Stop complaining and continue to be the contributing citizens you have always been and provide substantive solutions to problems and help this President move forward. Or, continue to do nothing more than whine because your team lost and our future really will be in jeopardy.
A government run health care system?!? Clearly the only people that can be for this are going to be the same uneducated people that voted for Obama. There isn’t a single government agency that can successfully operate in the capacity that they should and now the government wants to take control of the health care system? I’m only asking that everyone really does their own research on this and decide for themselves. This is like anything else, there may be pros but there far outweighed by the cons. Everyone that is for this is really failing to see how this is going to end up impacting us financially. Just because this is plan is for a government run health care system does NOT mean that it is going to be FREE!!! WE are going to have to pay for it without any choice in the matter. Look it up and see for yourself.
