DANVILLE — The Tea Party Patriots, a group that organized Danville’s Fourth of July Tea Party, is planning yet another protest — this time specifically against government-run health care.

Scheduled to gather at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the grassroots activists will convene at the local offices of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, and U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., at 308 Craghead St. Other groups nationwide are gathering simultaneously in protest of socialized medicine, according to a news release.

The “Health Care Freedom” Tea Party is open to residents of Danville and the surrounding areas. Visit http://www.teapartypatriots.org for more information.

“Jimmystick”  Canadian attacks on our American President concerning policy?  .  I think it goes like this: Inauguration, personnel are put in place, specific problems are identified, specific solutions to problems are developed, strategic initiatives are identified and implemented, additional corrective measures are identified and implemented, TIME is allowed for policies to take hold and results to be observed. Former President Bush was credited for overseeing our nations security, but let us not forget he was in office during the “attack”.  Foresight and oversight on behalf of his administration should have avoided this mess.  Now, you and a lot of other politically motivated people (including some Canadian hack) want miracles. Some folks would like to look beyond the mess we started with and set up to regain the cultural high ground in 2010 / 2012 before our current adminsitration gains momentum. This is not a game. Jobs and lives are at stake at home and abroad. Fortunately most Americans realize that.  I’m not very concerned about current polls, a reasonable outcome is what I want.  How do former patriots become so “anti” everything overnight?  How do we go from supportive of the office of the President to hoping his policies fail?  I don’t know you, but unless you have access to very detailed and restricted closely held government and global corporate information you are speaking from an ill-informed position as is the case with most people doing the “fatmouthing”.  Either we help and support this administration or we hurt our country. But, that is the trend, there are policy arguments being used to fight a cultural war.  It’s too soon to pass judgement on this mans policies. But, I’m certain of one thing, if the conservative movement keeps using the same people to make the same arguments the results will certainly not change.  Thank you for reading.

The Canadian Press on Obama

Very interesting article from Canada. The Canadian Press seems to be something like our AP, gathering news from across the world for the Canadian media. If these observations are true, it appears that the wizard behind the curtain is becoming exposed. We can only “hope”. Now that would be “change” we could believe in.

Canadian insight into the Obama Thing.  What is astounding is that it comes from Canada, a, so far, more left Country than the U.S.  The last paragraph below pretty much sums it up.

Obama’s White House is Falling Down

By Daniel Greenfield Thursday, June 11, 2009

In the sixth month of his presidency, Obama has turned an economic downturn into an economic disaster, taking over and trashing entire companies, and driving the nation deep into deficit spending expected to pass 10 trillion dollars.

Abroad, Obama seems to have no other mode except to continue on with his endless campaign, confusing speechmaking with diplomacy. It is natural enough that Obama, who built his entire campaign on high profile public speeches reported on by an adoring press, understands how to do nothing else but that.
Ego driven photo op appearances and clueless treatment of foreign dignitaries

While the press is still chewing over Obama’s Cairo speech, this celebrity style coverage ignores the fact that Obama’s endless world tour is not actually accomplishing anything. Instead his combination of ego driven photo op appearances and clueless treatment of foreign dignitaries have alienated many of America’s traditional allies. Those who aren’t being quietly angry at Obama, like Brown, Merkel or Netanyahu, instead think of him as as absurdly lightweight, as Sarkozy, King Abdullah or Putin do.

While his officials carry out their dirty economic deeds, Obama responds to any and every crisis as if it were a Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland musical, with a cry of, “Let’s put on a show.” Thus far Obama has put on “shows” across America, Europe and the Middle East. And what the adoring media coverage neglects to cover, is that Obama’s shows have solved absolutely nothing. They have served only as high profile entertainment.

Neither alienating America’s traditional allies, through a combination of arrogant bullying and ignorance, nor appeasing America’s enemies, has yielded any actual results. Nor does it seem likely to. Islamic terrorism is not going anywhere, neither are the nuclear threats from North Korea and Iran. While Obama keeps smiling, the global situation keeps growing more grim.

At home, if Obama was elected as depression era entertainment, the charm of his smiles and his constant appearances on magazine covers appear to be wearing thin on the American public. Despite the shrill attacks on Rush Limbaugh or the Republican Enemy of the Weak—the Democratic party of 2009, is polling a lot like the Republican party of 2008. The Democrats have suddenly become the incumbents, and the only accomplishment they can point to is lavish deficit spending, often on behalf of the very same corporations and causes they once postured against.

The European Union Parliament’s swing to the right cannot be credited to Obama, though doubtlessly some European voters seeing socialist economic crisis management on display in the world’s richest country decided they wanted none of it, but it is part of a general turning against federalism. And Obama’s entire program is dependent on heavily entrenching federalism at the expense of individual and state’s rights. Yet that is precisely his Achilles heel with independent voters who are polling against more taxes and expanded government. And no amount of speeches by Obama can wish away his 18 czars or the national debt he has foisted on generation after generation of the American people. That leaves Obama with a choice between socialism and the independent voter. And thus far he has chosen socialism.

Obama’s tactic of hijacking Bush Administration era policies on the economy and the War on Terror, and exploiting them as Trojan horses to promote his own agenda, have left him coping with a backlash from his own party, as well as general Republican opposition.

His Czars are meant to function as the bones in an executive infrastructure accountable to no one, but a lack of accountability isn’t just another word for tyranny, but for incompetence. A functional chain of command is accountable at multiple levels if it is to function effectively. Obama’s White House by contrast is in a state of over-organized chaos, the sort of organized disorganization that undisciplined egotistical leftists naturally create for themselves, complete with multiple overlapping levels of authority and no one in charge but the man at the top, who’s too busy doing other things to actually be in charge.

Dennis Blair as National Intelligence, who collaborated with the Muslim genocide of Christians in East Timor, trying to muscle out the CIA to create his own intelligence network, is typical of the kind of chaos being spawned by every chief in an expanding government bureaucracy working to make sure that all the Indians answer to him. Similarly the National Security Council wrestling with the State Department, highlighted by Samantha Power getting her own specially created NSC position to butt heads with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, illustrates the state of conflict and chaos in American foreign affairs. A state of chaos so pervasive that incompetence has now become commonplace, and no one can even be found to double check the spelling of a Russian word that is meant to be the theme of American’s diplomatic reconstruction with Russia, or to pick out a gift for the visiting British Prime Minister.

Meanwhile on the economy, Obama exploited the ongoing bailouts, transforming them from bailouts into takeovers meant to shift the balance of power in what had been a democracy and socially engineer not only corporations, but the lives of ordinary Americans. But the public’s patience with corporate bailouts is at an end, most Americans were never happy with them to begin with, and want them to end. The death of Chrysler at the hands of Fiat and the UAW might look like a victory in the union ranks, but it doesn’t play too well outside Detroit. And tacking on CAFE standards that will kill the pickup truck and the SUV will badly erode Obama in the swing states, if exploited properly in 2010 and 2012. Despite the constant media barrage, orchestrated out of the White House, the public is growing disenchanted with the performance of Obama and the Democrats.

With unemployment booming and the economy dropping, the jobs aren’t there and the spending is out of control. Republicans today are polling better on ethics and the economy, than the Democrats are. That shows a trend which is likely to register in the mid-term elections in 2010, in the same way that the EU parliamentary elections served as a shock to the system.

In the opposition, Republicans are free to embrace the rhetoric of change, to champion reform and push libertarian ideas about the size and scope of government. In turn all Obama has is his celebrity fueled media spectacle world tour. A charade now serving as a parallel to the depression era entertainment that functioned as escapism in a dour time. But before long, it may be Obama that the American public will want to escape from.

Obama has tried to play Lincoln, Reagan, JFK and FDR—but in the end he can only play himself, a shallow, manipulative and egotistical amateur who is in over his head, and trying to drag the country down with him. Obama’s White House is falling down and while the flashbulbs are still glittering and the parties are going on in D.C. and around the world, Obama and the Democratic Congress may be headed for a recession of their own.

Ok Dribbler, the whole bill giving so many million kids insurance was totally funded with a tax hike on cigerettes! Do you not remember the mailer telling you to thank Tom Perriello for voting for it? Yes Dribbler if these folks quit smoking NO money for this program the feds would have to invent a new tax. Oh by the way I remembered the name just not how bad the artwork was. So how about a “Holy Smokes Jimmystick!“ That is after you go look up the funding for that bill which I am sure you will. :)

Aw grasshopper.  Lil’  jimmy is back with his nonsensical hypothesis of what the Dow would be if McCain/Palin (heaven forbid) were President and Vice-President (in training as she tries to learn to read and learn things about history).  You have no idea where the Dow would be; in fact, McCain took his break from the election at one point so he could deal with the economy and didn’t contribute one darn thing except to show that, unlike Obama, he couldn’t multi-task.  Sarah Palin, by now, would likely have quit so she could make more money as a talking head on Fox News and to get someone else to write her autobiography.  That’s my hypothesis which is just as accurate as your hypothesis, grasshopper.

And, what gives you the idea that the rich will leave the country?  Is that something that Rush suggested would happen?  Well, it isn’t going to happen, just like those who claimed in 2004 that if Bush got reelected, they would move to Canada.  And cigarette smokers quitting and causing an impact upon on country is, with all due respect, one of the most absurd comments I’ve read on this board.  What part of your body did you pull that one out of, grasshopper?

And, by the way, I’m glad you finally looked up Jackson Pollock; you did get an education, now, didn’t you.  If you had one of “Jack the dripper/dribbler’s” paintings, you wouldn’t have a financial worry in the world today.  Check out what his “dribbles” are getting at auction.

Now, a little quiz for you, grasshopper.  Multiple choice:

Is the Dow Jones Company a:
(A)  stock brokerage company;
(B)  publishing company; or
(C)  bank/mortgage company.

Don’t look it up until you make your guess.  Bet you learn something else, grasshopper.

Peace, my friend.

Jackson Pollock aka “Jack the dripper” amazing how a liberal hides behind an artist that was only popular because of the PT Barnum theory. I guess we should call this version,“Jack the dribbler.“ Why not come out and be a Patriot and not a liberal parrot. If you truly have intelligence then examine the lack of logic in your arguments. Tea Parties will go on and will prevail because this country has not totally gone down and if McCain and Palin were in the Dow would be way up and maybe back to the 5 digits mark. Yes 10,000. That is what you get when you reduce taxes and put people to work. Obama needs to pull out the Reagan play book and quit spending so much money. No one seems to think of what happens if all the rich leave the country and if everyone quits smoking. Then there are two bills that would not have funding! Think about it!!!

JP - Just a thought.  If Sarah Palin is so bad.  If she’s so out of touch.  If she really lacks the quality you think she needs to be a player, why do you keep dissing her so?  I would think, if she’s as bad as you think she is, that you’d WANT her to be the leader of the Republican Party.  I mean, what if, because of all the negative attention, the Republicans turn away from Palin and throw their support to someone who is bulletproof.  Someone like Rick Perry, or John Kyle, or Susan Collins.  How does that help your strategy of preserving a Democratic majority?

BTW, unless they changed it since last year, the governor’s salary in Alaska is 125K per year, not 200K.

Along those same lines, what’s wrong with people getting together for a tea party.  Political groups have been organizing with one another for a couple of centuries now.  Why does this bother you?  If these people want to get together and promote their political beliefs, how is that a threat to anyone?  Been a while since I was in school; but, I specifically remember this freedom of speech and freedom to peaceably assemble thing.  Are you suggesting they don’t have a right to exercise these freedoms?  If so, what is your justification for that position?

If you want to place blame for the Minnesota Bridge Collapse, how about the Clinton Administration since it was found to be structurally deficient in the 90’s.  It follows with your logic that the President is responsible for all infrastructure deficiencies occurring on his watch.  Or, perhaps you could blame the state since they chose to do more frequent inspections rather than repair the bridge.  Or perhaps you could blame the designers of the bridge since the cause was determined to be a design flaw; or perhaps the original inspectors who didn’t catch the design flaw.  Where does it end?  Oh, that’s right.  Everything bad that happened between 2000-2008 is George Bush’s fault.  I wonder if the liberals are going to somehow blame him for the fiasco of cap and trade and health care legislation this administration is trying to ram down our throats.  I’m sure when the fertilizer hits the fan they will try to say Bush caused it.

Let’s talk tax and spend and borrow.  Our national deficit was about 500 billion $ in Jan.  It now tops more than $1 trillion after just 6 months of Obama, Pelosi and Reid’s out of control spending.  It is due to be more than $1.8 trillion by the end of the year.  This proposed health care legislation will cost at least $1 trillion over 10 years (really 5 because it isn’t due to kick in until 2014) and that will fund only about 30% of the currently uninsured.  Obama would have us believe it would get less expensive after that, but in fact, the costs will just keep spiraling out of control, especially when employers elect to no longer provide insurance for their employees so they will be forced to the private option.  Not to mention all the job losses because of the 8% of payroll penalty employers will have to pay will mean they will decrease the number of employees.  So those first few years they plan to do a sur tax on those making $300K and above.  How long do you think it will be before all those making less will be taxed more?  That’s going to hurt for all those people out there now who don’t pay any taxes or actually get paid money because of tax credits.  Then comes the time when you are told you are too old for a heart bypass or a hip replacement.  What’s the point if you only have another 10 year life span.  It’s not cost efficient.
Our health care system is far from perfect now, but 75% of the people have decent healthcare.  Shouldn’t we take the time to come up with a plan which will actually improve on our system rather than destroying it?

As to Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize.  I’m only surprised that he didn’t win one for inventing the internet.

I guess one persons joke is another persons insult.  My insults are a bit more scathing. Call me “liberal” if you will, but it’s “typical” that I object to.
