STAUNTON, Va. (AP) — Members of the Virginia Army National Guard known as the Stonewall Brigade are being honored for their service in Iraq.
Governor Tim Kaine awarded the Governor’s National Service Medal to members of Staunton’s 116th Brigade Combat Team over the weekend. The team was stationed in Baghdad for 10 months to provide support for General David Petraeus, the U.S. commander of Operation Iraqi Freedom troops.
Officials say the unit had a long list of accomplishments in Iraq, including establishing a base defense center and a mass casualty team in Baghdad’s international zone. The unit also helped restore and modernize Baghdad by providing waterlines and even a soccer pitch.

Only a Virginia award?? What about a national service medal (such as the Meritorious Service Medal) since they were on federal service??

It is a shame that these brave men and women should have to be subjected to an award from the biggest coward in Virginia. That is until we get another visit from Obama. Kaine does not deserve to be within 100 feet of any of these brave men and women.
