DANVILLE — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into matters involving Caswell County, N.C., District Attorney Joel Brewer, said Noelle Talley, a spokeswoman for the SBI.

Brewer is the district attorney for District 9A, which includes Caswell and Person counties in North Carolina. Talley said that matters were brought to the attention of investigators and that her office has begun an investigation.

Talley said she couldn’t comment on any specifics or whether the investigation involved the Person County or Caswell County jurisdiction.

“We don’t know the essence of what the issue is at this point,” Brewer said. “I can assure the people of my district that myself and all members of my staff have conducted every case that we’ve handled with integrity.”

Brewer said that the SBI contacted him and told him that it would discuss the case with him at some point, but that hasn’t happened yet.
