Robin Tomer indicted by grand jury
The wife of Danville City Councilman Adam Tomer has been indicted on embezzlement charges by a Pittsylvania County grand jury.
Commonwealth’s Attorney David Grimes said Tuesday the charges against Robin Garrett Tomer involved her former employer, Romar MedEquip in Blairs. She spent about a year working for Romar, selling motorized wheelchairs and other equipment. Grimes said the charge maintains she stole from the company, but he declined to discuss the details.
The indictment came Monday afternoon.
Martin Garrett, Robin Tomer’s father, declined to comment Tuesday on the indictment. Joe Garrett, her uncle and the attorney who represented her in a civil lawsuit, also declined comment.
Adam Tomer directed all questions to Robin’s attorney, Glenn Berger. “It would be best if I did not comment right now at the request of counsel,” he said before Tuesday’s council meeting.
In February, Robin Tomer lost a civil lawsuit involving Romar.
A jury ruled that documents she took from Romar were trade secrets and awarded $175,000 in compensatory damages to the company.
Tomer maintained the information belonged to her because she was an independent contractor.
The jury also determined that Romar owed $4,000 to Tomer for unpaid salary and commissions.

Adam did quit his job. To put all his eggs in one basket was not wise. Nor was what his wife did leading up to this. Why is revenge the motive when they won the civil case?
R&B;is taking off the opposite opinion. It is pretty bad when you only show one side of the story. If she has been charged then there must be some evidence. Let the people talk!
I think it is plausible that this person doesn’t know Robin Tomer.
In regards to her husband who “quit his job”, did they forget that he resigned from his job to focus on the House of Delegates campaign?
I would think this couple is smart enough to know and understand the financial repercussions of living on a single income for a short period of time.
I highly doubt Mrs. Tomer would resort to “embezzling” from her former employer to keep up her lifestyle as news_u_can_use has implied.
I think that Romar is riding the vengance train as long as they can, I really think they are beginning to go beyond means of reason. I very much doubt that Robin Tomer needed to embezzel anything when according to the news she made a decent living, even enough to support her husband during his time of campaigning, which is exactly what any loving, supportive wife would do. It’s just time for Romar to move on and get over the fact that they lost thier most profitable employee to a competitor (which is beginning to look like what this whole thing is all about!)
