Republicans to open campaign headquarters

Republicans will open a campaign headquarters this week at The Forum on Piney Forest Road.

Campaign materials for presidential candidate John McCain, U.S. Senate candidate Jim Gilmore and U.S. Rep. Virgil Goode, as well as information on Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and Attorney General Bob McDonnell, will be available at the office, according to Brenda Bowman, local coordinator for the McCain for President committee.

Danville will take part in a nationwide “House Party for John McCain” on Aug. 14, she said.

“As the coordinator for the McCain campaign in Danville/Pittsylvania County, I would like to state that we’re organized and energized,” Bowman said.

The campaign office is located at 625 Piney Forest Road, Suite 202, and there are plans to open another site someone in the area.

“We are also looking into a headquarters location for upper Pittsylvania County,” Bowman said. “The Northern Pittsylvania County Republican Women, along with the Pittsylvania County Republican Committee, will staff that office.”
