CHATHAM — The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors has appointed a committee to decide what to do with the old Chatham Elementary School building.

The eight-member committee includes two county supervisors and six citizens-at-large.

Chatham-Blairs Supervisor Hank Davis appointed the six residents to the committee during an organizational meeting at his law office in Chatham Thursday evening.

The committee members are Davis, Staunton River Supervisor Marshall Ecker, Victor Millner, Eloise Nenon, Bill Black, Richard Camp, Ron Brown and Mary Catherine Plaster.

The board of supervisors has given those supporting preservation of the old Chatham Elementary School a year to come up with a plan for the building, or it could be sold.
