One lane of U.S. 58 near South Boston closed for repairs

One lane of US 58 in Halifax County is closed in preparation for maintenance repairs to the roadway slope.
The outside (travel) lane and shoulder of US 58 East from Route 931 (Industrial Park Road) to Route 704 (Cluster Springs Road) near Lawson’s Creek is closed and will remain closed until repairs are made.

This is sure to confuse people: “The outside (travel) lane….“ Around Danville, most people think the right and left lanes are identical, and don’t mind going under the speed limit while driving in the left lane. And they are more dangerous, because others have to pass them on the right, which is a bad idea. The left lane should be used for passing, and the right for slower traffic. These are common sense rules of the road. Unfortunately, it is not the case. If people are passing you on the right, you need to move over, for you are in the wrong lane.
