SCOTTSBURG — Authorities have charged two men with the attempted armed robbery of a Halifax County store on Monday night.
A clerk at Max’s Grocery store at 9044 James D. Hagood Highway in Scottsburg told authorities that a man entered the store at about 6:30 p.m. Monday demanding money, according to a news release from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
The clerk shot the man, who then ran east on Hagood Highway, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies used a tracking dog and found the suspect at about 8:20 p.m. in the woods near the store, authorities said. He was taken to Halifax Regional Hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.
The sheriff’s office has charged Richard Anthony Snead, of Scuffle Town Road in Charlotte Court House, with attempted armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Snead, 21, is in stable condition and being treated at MCV Hospital in Richmond.
Authorities also charged Terrence Jermaine Moseley, of Smith Lane in Drakes Branch, with attempted armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Moseley, 21, is being held at Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax with no bond.
