Massie death a suicide, report says
Langston Focus School principal Samuel Massie took his own life, according to the North Carolina Department of Health.
The burial transit permit, which allowed Massie’s remains to be moved to Virginia, listed his death as a suicide.
A deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina found Massie’s body face down in a pond off Goose Pond Road near Eden, N.C., shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday, authorities said.
Law enforcement officials believe Massie drowned in the pond. His obituary states that he died Tuesday.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said a family member called the sheriff’s office Tuesday after Massie didn’t show up at the home of another relative.
Family members tried to contact him on a cell phone and they called other friends, he said.
The sheriff’s office treated him like any missing person, Taylor said, adding investigators went to Massie’s bank to see if there had been any financial transactions, but didn’t find any recent withdrawals or deposits.

Yes it is mighty strange but we need to be respectful because this man had a wife and children….and they have to hear all of these things. Regardless of how or why he died that doesn’t change the fact that he was a great man and respected by many.
RIP Mr. Massie
Massie death a suicide, report says…
Well if this is the case, what was the problem. Why would a man who helped everyone else do this. Why was no one there to help Massie????
I agree with Smoke Screen. I think that his death couldn’t have been a suicide. As always, there are 1,000 stories circulating around the city as to how or why he “committed suicide”. The only 2 people that know about the whole situation would be God and Mr. Massie. I still think that it’s a mystery that a man of his size could drown in a little pond face down. I think everyone shouldn’t focus on whether or not he killed himself, but show the man the respect that he deserves because he has helped so many kid in the city of Danville….. and he will be greatly missed by everyone that he knew because he has changed so many lives.
R.I.P. Mr. Massie We Love You
