With Independence Day falling on a Saturday, some city and state offices will be closing on Friday to celebrate the holiday.

All Danville and Pittsylvania County offices will be closed on Friday.

The Danville office of the Department of Motor Vehicles — which is normally open all day Friday and for a half day on Saturday — will be closed both days.

Most banks will remain open on Friday — including Virginia Bank and Trust, First Citizens, BB&T and American National. However, branches that normally provide drive-through service on Saturdays will be closed July 4.

The U.S. Postal Service will deliver mail on Friday, but not Saturday.
