A federal judge has denied Danville Regional Medical Center’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against it.
Danville resident Everett Scruggs sued the hospital in federal court for medical negligence after he suffered a heart attack and a stroke in the Emergency Room after being left unattended for 11 hours in Sept. 2006.

Yeah it is so terrible at that hospital and it effects me personally…and to the person that had the heart attack just be glad you didn’t die. Back in late 06’ I had a young 21 yr old cousin to go to that hospital with symptoms of a heart attack and they just assumed she couldn’t possibly be having one because of her age…big dummies!!! They admitted her and when the doctor came in the next morning he was livid and stated that she had a heart attack while a patient at that hospital and the sad part about it was that THEY DID"NT EVEN KNOW!!!! He didn’t even want to touch her and sent her to Duke….she had a heart transplant and the Lord brought her back to us for a little while. The 28th is the first anniversary of her death and she left behind a 4 yr old son. And the crazy thing is, if she didn’t have to go to that hospital she might still be here. On top of that, a week after she died, my best friend’s mother went in with stomach pains, they gave her a drug called fentanyl which slows your heart rate. She had a pace maker and everyone knows the purpose of having a pace maker because you have irregular heart beat or slow heartbeat so why give her something that will slow it down like that is really crazy. Oh, she died too. Anyway, they need to shut that place down!!!
people should be able to go to the emergency room and not die or nearly die because they werent attended to. everybody has the right to go but at some point instead of calling patients in order it should be according to how severe your case is. My 3 year son collapsed to the floor with a breathing problem breathing problem before they decided to take me serious. i tell you its a mess at drmc
The PH in PHN2 must stand for pin head.I speak as an EMS provider, If DRMC had only true emergencies come to the ER they would not have enough cold storage to hold the bodies.

You trying going to a Dr. office with out insurance and see what you get.You know some one with a tooth ache or ear ache might not be able to stand the pain to wait for the Dr. office to open up.What are you suppose to do on the weekend? But you are correct in a way,,,when I took my 1 1/2 year old daughter to the hospital at 7:30pm with a 106 temp.I could have stayed home gotten up and went to the Dr. office and been seen and back home before they looked at my daughter.You should run for office, Dont address the problem just place blame some where else.
The Emergency Room unfortunately is utilized as a doctor’s office by many..Instead of coming to the emergency room for sore throats and earaches, perhaps these people should go to a doctor and then the emergency room would be able to see REAL emergencies and not things that are capable of waiting until the doctor’s offices are open. Toothaches, chronic backpain, colds, etc. are not emergencies..get a doctor instead of taking time away from those who really need to be seen.
yea ur right about that they should have the honor of providing trasys for patients knowing they gon be there almost a whole 24 hrs
OH wait they said “left unattended for 11 hours” that was when he was back in the room after he waited 12-14 hours in the waiting room.
You know its sad when you know if your going to the hospital you need to bring enuff money to eat for a day just to get a cut,or a ear ache,or broken bone looked at.
i dont know who got the money but they need to get it back to pay for more help or something it crazy at that hospital
WOW 11 hours??? They were on the ball that day,,,,must of had extra help come in.
A good question is,,,,Dan River employees started the hospital by giving a little bit each week out of their check,,,,,,When they sold the hospital,,,,,,WHO GOT THE MONEY?
Only 11 hours! Hey they are getting better!
