Confirming what many political pundits have been assuming for months, state Senator Robert Hurt, R-Chatham, filed the paperwork Tuesday to run for Congress in 2010 against Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District.

Hurt, a lawyer and Pittsylvania County native, said he and his wife began seriously discussing the idea after former Rep. Virgil Goode opted against another run earlier this year. Hurt said he would wait to make a formal announcement of his candidacy until after the November election, but filed now “because there’s so much to get done.”

“It’s something that can be done in light of our primary commitment to being good parents,” Hurt said, “and we’re satisfied that it can be done. It won’t be easy. It needs to be done and that’s the main reason for doing it.”

As is common in Southside, Hurt said the biggest issue facing the 5th District — which stretches from Danville up to Charlottesville — is jobs. He does not support the current proposed health care or cap-and-trade legislation and pledged to “be a strong voice for our common sense conservative Virginia values.”

“We continue to struggle with an economy that has changed dramatically over the last 20 years,” he said. “…What concerns me are the polices that we’re seeing in Washington that I do not believe support the kind of job growth and prosperity that’s required in order for us to have the brighter future we deserve.”

Hurt, 40, lives in Pittsylvania County with his wife of 13 years, Kathy, and their three children, ages 10, 7 and 5. His political career began in 2000 when he was elected to the Chatham Town Council. He ran for the House of Delegates in 2001 and the state senate in 2007, where he currently represents the 19th District.

What everyone knows is the left wing whackos will do anything to get their way. Case in point, the left winger global warmers got caught trying to pull a fast one:

Everyone knows the previous ice age ended with the ice caps melting due to the amount of methane gas created by the woolly mammoths prior to their extinction which was directly related to the lack of oxygen in the atmosphere.  It having been replaced by the methane.

Anyone smell anything?  I thought I saw a bull go by.

Here is a BIGGER news flash: BIGmouth Miles has no answer for the question I asked 2 or 3 times. I have posed this question over and over and have yet to get a reply. Of course, I knew he had no reply, because if he did reply, he would prove himself wrong, and since he is NEVER wrong, it is not possible for him to reply, he can only pretend that he never read the question. What a maroon.

Wait miles, you state that ALL scientists on the planet agree with you & Algore?  Every single one? Have you contatced all of them yourself, or did Algore just feed you this tidbit of misinformation?
I repeat my question Miles, what caused the last Ice Age ( there have been more than one) to end? What made the polar ice cap retreat?  I am confident you have no answer. Hades will freeze over before you can come up with a plausable answer.

Well thanks for the compliment Newsucanuse.  I never claimed to know everything.  However, all reputable scientists agree that carbon emissions have accelerated global warming.  Stay ignorant, stay happy.

@SayWhat?........what deadline did Mr. Hurt suddenly beat when he decided to run? When is the deadline?

@Miles: Global warming is very natural. and I wish you would tell me where the Ice Age went if not for global warming. The polar ice cap was more than a mile thick at the spot Chicago is today. So where did the ice go? How did it go?  I hope you will share this information with the rest of us, since you know everything.

Yep. Randall D.  We understand.  You probably don’t believe that 6 million Jews were exterminated by the Nazis in WW II.  We know the type.  Facts are often stubborn and inconvenient things.  Ignore them at your own peril.  Stay ignorant, stay happy.

I must be uninformed, for I relate thawing to warming.  Perhaps thawing can be done without warming, but it is over my head.

So tell me what the difference is between global “thawing” and global “warming”?

I’m waiting.

I just do not believe everything the prez and his bimbos tell me.  I will not accept everything that is told to me, without common sense investigation.  Sunspots, solar winds,  gravity, all sorts of things affect our weather.  But global warming happened when there were very few people on earth, and no fossil fuels being burned.  No pollution (except for those dirty volcanoes, which do more to the atmosphere in a few hours than manking does in decades.

Believe what you want, you’re gonna anyway.  I don’t believe in taking peoples word for granted.  If it flies in the face of common sense, I have to ask some questions.  Call me what you want, but I read enough and study enough to know what I am talking about, most of the time anyway.  I make mistakes, but I study enough to make as few of them as possible.

Global thawing.  I have more to learn, lmfao!
