Halifax County wreck claims two lives
NATHALIE — Two people were killed in a two-car acci-dent Monday night in Halifax County, said 1st Sgt. J.N. Lane of the Virginia State Police.
Joseph Paul Dickerson, 34, of South Boston, and Acie Lewis Francis, 32, of Nathalie, both were ejected from a 2004 Ford Explorer, Lane said.
Dickerson was pronounced dead at the scene; Francis was transported to Halifax Re-gional Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Neither were wearing seatbelts, Lane said.
Lane said the Explorer crossed into the path of a 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood on Vir-ginia 645 at about 8:40 p.m.
The two cars sideswiped each other, then the Explorer flipped several times.
A third passenger in the Explorer was wearing his seatbelt and was treated and released from Halifax Re-gional.
The occupants of the Cadil-lac suffered minor injuries.
No charges have been filed. Police are continuing to inves-tigate the accident.

Amen, Rockit.
By the way, those Explorers don’t seem to be any more stable with the new tires. Maybe the rollovers were a truck design problem after all.
Editor: enough with the hyphenations! e.g. “acci-dent”... “Re-gional” ... “Cadil-lac” and “inves-tigate”. Did you hire some really dumb summer interns or have you not learned how to use the web site editing software?
I am so sick and tired of seeing stories like this. While I feel for the victims and their families, these are another two deaths that didn’t have to happen.
Folks, for the sake of your loved ones, please, please, please, wear the damx seat belt! A little discomfort is a small price to pay for saving your life.
