Goode seeks recount in 5th District election

Congressman Virgil Goode is requesting a recount of votes in the 5th District Congressional race hours after the State Board of Elections announced that Democratic newcomer Tom Perriello officially won.
The State Board of Elections announced Monday that Perriello won with 745 votes; giving him a razor thin lead of .23 percent. Virginia law provides for a recount where the vote difference is one percent or less.
“Over 316,000 votes were cast in this Election for U.S. Representative. The morning after the Election Night, with all precincts reporting, we were ahead by 446 votes. Since that time, over 3,200 votes have changed—the largest changes coming from cities and counties that voted for my opponent,“ said Goode in a press conference at his Rocky Mount, Va. office Monday afternoon.
He said constituents have encouraged him to seek a recount.
“In an election this close—with less than one-quarter of one percent separating the two candidates, and with literally thousands of vote changes taking place during the post-election canvass process—a recount is an important protection for voters. It ensures that each ballot that was lawfully cast in the Election is counted, and that the votes are accurately tallied. It also gives us a chance to ensure that each candidate’s tally is comprised only of votes that were properly and lawfully cast,“ he said.

It is amazing how Perriello wanted ALL votes counted until he was supposidly ahead. I guess Tommy boy still does not want the Military votes counted. Too many irregularities just to give up and we are not talking hanging chads. Votes went missing in certain districts. I wonder who lost the most? Well we know the answer to that. Hopefully Periello will have to go home with his tale tucked. It was a fluke that he had so many votes but that can be attributed to a lot of Obama support taht would have never got out to vote for Perriello. There is NO way that all the peope I saw would have stand in the rain to vote for Perriello. If Goode runs in two years against Tommy Boy it will be a landslide for Goode. First time voters who just checked down the line like mindless robots with no regaurd for they were doing. I think Jesus said something about “forgive them they know not what they do.“ Lets see how many liberals curse me for that quote?
What locality had 2,500 registered voters with 5,000 ballots cast? Seems to me that would have caused questions on election night.
GO GOODE GO!
The irregularities are many; I heard one area that had 2500 registered voters had 5000 cast votes.
I think this is the proper thing to do. It really did seem fishy how votes kept appearing as needed and there were irregularities in the voting process. To make certain that everything is above board, a third party should be brought in to review the votes.
