The Building Economic Success Together coalition will be offering free tax preparation services for Danville, Pittsylvania County and Caswell County, N.C., residents who earn less than $49,000 a year.

Funding for the program — called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance — was made possible through a grant from the Danville Regional Foundation.

The goal of the program is to ensure that residents are getting all the tax credits they are entitled to, par-ticularly Earned Income Tax Credit, which is “for people who work for a living but don’t make a lot of money,” according to a news release.

There are numerous VITA locations throughout the region. Caswell County residents are encouraged to call the Caswell County Senior Center, (336) 694-7447, to make an appointment. In Danville and Pittsylvania County, residents may call Pittsylvania County Community Action, (434) 793-5627, to make an appointment.
