CHATHAM — Four people were injured in a wreck that shut down a part of U.S. 29 near Chatham shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Virginia State Trooper T.S. Bullington said Steven Mullins, of Chatham, was traveling south bound on U.S. 29 in a 2004 Saturn when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median, flipped and landed upside down in the north bound lane.

Sandra Logan, of Rustin, was heading north on U.S. 29 when Mullins crossed the median strip, Bullington said. She then swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle, and her 2007 Toyota Forerunner overturned in a ditch after taking out a road sign.

Both drivers and the two passengers riding in Logan’s vehicle were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Mullins was charged with reckless driving, Bullington said.

U.S. 29 was reopened at about 6 p.m. Saturday after crews cleared the wreckage from the road.

We are asked to report inappropriate comment. What about inane ones, some of the comments are just plain childish.

Fore? Like when you hit a golf ball? The writer must be a product of the local public education system!
