Authorities are investigating a burglary and arson that damaged a home Wednesday morning on Brentwood Drive in north Danville.

The Danville Fire Department received the report of the blaze at about 8:10 a.m., said Acting Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Shields.

Responders saw heavy fire and smoke at the residence at 150 Brentwood Drive near Roman Eagle Nursing Home, Shields said. Three engines, a ladder truck and six support vehicles responded.

No one was at home when the fire broke out, Shields said. There were no injuries reported in the fire.

Damage to the house was extensive, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department. Police say the resident reported stolen property, and evidence shows the house was burglarized during the same time frame as the fire.

The Danville Police Department, along with the Danville Fire Marshal’s office is continuing to investigate this incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Danville Crime Stoppers at (434) 793-0000 or . Information given will remain confidential.
