Fire causes significant damage to Danville house

DANVILLE — The Danville Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire late Friday morning on Edmonds Street.

Firefighters responding to the call at about 11:40 a.m. found heavy smoke from one side of the single-family house at 721 Edmonds St., according to a news release from the fire department.

They found fire in the basement and put it out in about 15 minutes, the release states.

Residents of the house weren’t home, but fire officials said there was significant fire damage to the basement and heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
