A Mazda truck sits in the median on Riverside Drive Monday afternoon after running off the road and into a tree.
A man’s condition is unknown after he crashed a burgundy Mazda truck into a tree in the median of the 4000 block of Riverside Drive Monday afternoon.
The details surrounding the wreck could not be confirmed Monday because Danville police said the report could not be accessed until today.
A patrol officer on duty at the Danville Police Department said shortly after 5 p.m., the driver ran off the eastbound lanes of Riverside Drive into the median, crushing the tree and flipping the truck.
The Mazda pickup truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash and its driver was transported from the scene in an ambulance. Another car — a light blue sedan — did not appear to have been struck, but an elderly man from that car was also loaded into a second ambulance.
Emergency workers on scene could not provide any details.
Frances Ingram, who lives nearby, heard the crash. Afraid someone she knew might be involved, she drove out to see what happened.
“It sounded like a car door slam,” Ingram said as she watched rescue workers from Danville Toyota’s parking lot across the street. “I was shaking all the way over here. I thought it might be (my daughter).”

Remain humble, I say to myself for they knoweth not what they do or say.
You are right on the money, taylor, I drive a tractor/trailer for a living and all the time, I see drivers doing everything in their cars, the only thing they aren’t doing is paying attention!! Then when there is an accident, that driver points the finger to someone else as the problem.. If you are running that far behind, just get up earlier.
I get it…people should slow down and pay attention to driving…..put the cell phone away,eat,read a book,and put on the make-up at home…..yes I’m a MAN…....
omg, men really don’t get it.
How come the photo is taken so far away with all the dead space in it?Dont they know how to crop a photo? The accident is at least 200 feet from the crossover.I have crossed there almost everyday for past 30 years.Ive never any any problems there. Dont understand the comments about it. Saw the skidmarks there. They lead off 58 westbound before the intersection. Dont see how the intersection had anything to do with it.Does the lady mentioned in the story freak out everytime she hears a noise and thinks her daughter is involved in something. Even while she was there watching she still couldnt figure out her daughter wasnt…..That didnt make much since.A month ago a man died from injuries a little further out at James Road after a vehicle turned in front of a driver traveling eastbound and nothing was in the paper about that terrible accident. This story above is just another fenderbender.
The accident was not a crossover accident it was an improper lane change by another car that caused the accident. Improper lane changes can happen anywhere…on a dangerous road or anyplace that has 2 lanes. This was not because of it being a bad crossing. It was on a straight area past the crossing
well, HARVEY, It is not ‘everytime’ someone wrecks that a problem needs to be fixed.I say that because someone has to die or be injured before common sense directs people to use common sense. for example the cross road on Mt. cross where they put a caution sign with flashing lights and reduced the speed limit. a teacher died there before that was done. the Elizabeth street cross over was finally blocked, but so many people had to wreck before any attention was brought to it. I know fully well what accident means. Thankfully good things can come from bad things, other wise they would not happen. my point is that the safety of the area in which that man wrecked needs to be addressed for the safety of all of us traveling on that road.
Any one with a sense of love for there fellow man thinks about these things. You need to also.
If we don’t speak up about things that can be improved for the benefit of everyone, WHO WILL?

You Can’t Fix Stupid….....
Addressing the previous comment, why is it that every time someone wrecks it is automatically a problem that needs to be fixed. It is called an accident.
I hope that everyone is ok. I also hope we can fix the problem there. too many people drive WAY TOO FAST in that section near danville toyota and cunningham tire. that is a bad spot for anyone crossing the street there.
