A Pittsylvania County woman was charged with failure to maintain control of her vehicle Wednesday after her car flipped on the Danville Expressway as rain brought wet, slippery roads to Southside.

Rhonda P. Cunningham, 21, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus northbound on U.S. 29, about 100 feet south of the U.S. 58 exit, when she wrecked, Capt. T.W. Jones of the Danville Police Department said. The accident happened at 10 a.m.

“She attempted to exit, but lost control and skidded off the road onto the median,” Jones said. The car flipped onto its roof and came to rest facing southbound.

Jones said Cunningham was not injured in the accident.
