Danville police investigate drive-by shooting

DANVILLE — Danville police say a drive-by shooting sent one man to the hospital early Friday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m., the Danville Police Department received a 911 call of someone being shot in the 100 block of White Street, according to a news release from the department.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a male victim with a gunshot would in the lower left leg. The victim told police he was walking on White Street when a black Chevrolet Impala came from behind him, with a suspect pointing a silver handgun out of the back passenger window, shooting him. The vehicle sped off toward New Street, according to the release.

The victim was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
