DANVILLE — Officials found a missing 10-year-old boy early Wednesday morning and charged his mother with felony child neglect, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.

The boy’s mother, Annie Jan Eman, 31, has been released on bond.
Officers went to the 600 block of Monument Street at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after Eman called to say her son had gone fishing at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and hadn’t come home.

A Virginia State Police helicopter, Danville Fire Department, Danville Police Department and the Danville Life Saving Crew and its dive team began looking for the boy. Public safety officers used night vision and found him fishing on an island near Dan Daniels Park with four of his friends shortly after 4 a.m.

Officials returned the boy to his grandfather.

We are living in a Parentless world and as long as the Goverment keeps giving them money to have babies they will…....Animals take better care of their young than most Parents these days…..this is just one case that is in the news there is many more around us

Obviously this mother is not providing adequate care for her child. It is interesting, however, that the child’s father is likely providing NO care at all, yet it is only the mother that is charged with neglect. I think whenever a parent abandons his or her children (which may or may not have happened here, I don’t know) he/she should be co-charged with any crime of neglect that is leveled against the parent that IS providing at least SOME care.

This child is not the type of child who listens to adult authority.  He pretty much does what he wants to when he wants to and even the school system has had problems with him.  He even threatened teachers and ran away from school.  Of course the mother is no pillar of the community.  Basically she just popped out the kids and doesn’t care about them at all.  But, the kid is no angel either.

If you want to argue with me just for the sake of arguing, fine.  I’m game.  Actually, I kinda enjoy it.  But, when I answer don’t start with this nonsense about how I misinterpreted your nuisances for sarcasm etc., etc., etc.  You used the phrase “pop out a few more nuisances” not me.  If you are okay with that disrepectful reference to babies, far be it from me to try to teach you otherwise.  But, when I call a spade a spade, don’t accuse me of being angry just because the truth hits a little too close to home for you.  It was a degrading term, you shouldn’t have used it, that you don’t see that, well I can’t force you to see the error of your judgement.

Oh, and please, spare me the self-righteous indignation you feel at being labled a liberal.  If it wasn’t a big deal for you, you wouldn’t disguise your discomfort by continually accusing me of being nuts, goofball, and angry.  Sometimes people tell on themselves.  What did the Queen say to Hamlet:  “The lady doth protest to much, methinks.“  (LOL)

You mentioned JacksonPollock earlier.  The reason I like going toe-to-toe with JP is because she never, ever hides the fact that she’s a LIBERAL.  I always respect that in a person.  Even if I sometimes disagree, I don’t mind debating someone who’s just as proud of what they are as they are with who they are.  That’s a lesson you could take here; unless, of course you think I’m being angry again.

InTheSpirit - Since you missed my previous posts, let me begin anew—Chill for a minute will ya?  I mean JEEZ, lightin the freak up!  No one’s suggesting you should spank your child for any reason.  You ever heard of the English-composition concept of “figure of speech?“  If I’d known it was going to be so upsetting to you I would have used a different term like “disciplined” or “punished”.  There, is that politically correct enough for you?

Also, you were the one to refer to child birth as “...pop out a few more “nuisances” for the rest of us to care for.  Poor things.  Wish I could help them all.“  While your compassion to help is commendable, your reference to babies as “nuisances” leads one to question whether your mind is following your heart or the other way around.  If you really believe they are “nuisances”, there’s not a long way from that belief to the belief in and support for abortion on demand.  And that is why N.O.W. and the Democratic Party appear to be logical organizations deserving of your support.

Besides, JP doesn’t fight me all the time.  Every now and then, we actually agree on something.

what a sorry excuse of a parent, i feel sorry for all these children who had no choice to come in this world and end up with idiot people as parents who cant even take care of themselves.

Bad Rockit! *hits Rockit with a rolled up newspaper* LOL

Bigger problem then just this hooker.  We’ve got an entire generation (gen x) of boys that don’t know how to be men and girls that don’t know how to be women.  They are steadily pumping out kids and have no idea of how to act as parents/adults.  Good thing grandparents have time, energy, and money to raise more kids. <-sarcasm

Hey InTheSpirit - Chill for minute will ya?!  The first comment I made on this article was before I realized there was more to the story.  The article itself did not mention the prostitution charge or any of the criminal history of this woman.  Basically, the only thing it mentioned was some 10 year old kid went fishing, didn’t come home, and they arrested the mother.  When you look at those facts, with no other facts reported, it looks like a typical DFS overkill situation.

If you had taken the time to read all the posts here before running off at your mouth, you would have noticed I posted another entry acknowledging that, due to the new information that came out, the arrest of the mother seemed appropriate.

In other words, I modified my comments as new information was provided from different sources.  Maybe you should learn to do the same!  Since it appears you have a problem with children, maybe you should join one of those pro-choice organizations like NOW or the Democratic Party.

All I have to say is it is about time. This is the same family that their daughter was shot in a driveby on their house that they claimed they did not know why, funny the whole neighborhood knew why. Neighbors at the time called social services themselves several times for help for these children and nothing was ever done. Bout time someone is listening. Wonder what happened to the other three children, they shouldnt be in the house either.

So 10 year old kids go fishing for 10 hours? These young fishermen may have set a new world record… something is fishy about this story?
