YANCEYVILLE, N.C. — Investigators arrested a Caswell County resident Tuesday after finding a methamphetamine lab and an indoor marijuana growing operation in the man’s house.

Stanley Wade Chastain, 52, was arrested for possession of marijuana, maintaining marijuana and manufacturing marijuana, according to the news release from the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office. All three charges are felonies.

Investigators searched the house off Camp Springs Road in the Cherry Grove community. They called in the State Bureau of Investigation’s laboratory response team and quarantined the house after finding evidence of a meth cooking lab.

Chastain is being held in the Caswell County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

Sheriff Michael Welch said the lab was the first confirmed one in Caswell County and may be the first in the general area. The Danville Police Department hasn’t run across any meth labs either, said Lt. Mike Mondul of the department.

Sounds like someone was a tattle tale.  Must not have gotten their moneys worth or had a disagreement.

I guess this will be another case down the tube (either by excepting a plea as with the killers in the Sayad Rawi murder) or a Not Guilty verdict (as with the Hugh Webster case)for our D.A. Brewer. Once again, the outstanding police work of the sheriff’s office will be for nothing.

Oreo, that is interesting.

I am glad to read they “quarantined” the house. I can’t help but wonder how many folks realize that these “math lab homes” will never be inhabitable again? Meth produces red phosphorous which causes cancer. It goes through sheet rock, studs, framing, everything and there is no way to get rid of it. Out in the mid-west anyone interested in purchasing a home HAS to be informed(by law)if there was ever a known meth lab there. Virginia should follow suit.
