Family members hug on the street in front of 2080 Waller Lane, where a four-wheeler accident left two family members injured and one dead.
Carrying the covered body of a 2 year old, an investigator shuffled to a stretcher in the backyard of 2080 Waller Lane, the location of a deadly four-wheeler accident Friday that also injured two others.
The body was laid and strapped to a stretcher and loaded into a hearse from Norris Funeral Services.
A mother, son and daughter were involved in the accident, said Sheriff Mike Taylor.
The mother and daughter were taken to Danville Regional Medical Center.
“One of the victims is doing fine and should be getting released soon,” Veronica Beauvais, an investigator for the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, said Friday afternoon. “The other victim is doing good, but she won’t be released today.”
Beauvais said a news release will be issued after investigators collect their information. The body of the 2-year-old victim will be sent to the medical examiner’s office.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said the investigation is ongoing, but preliminary work found that the 2 year old might have fallen off the four-wheeler, which then hit a tree.
An assistant commonwealth’s attorney was on-scene for most of Friday afternoon.
“The little boy and the little girl were the cutest little things,” said Dorothy Myers, who lives down the street and owns the property where the accident happened. “They’re real sweet little children. They didn’t bother you for nothing.”
Myers saw the mother and the two children riding on the four-wheeler earlier Friday.
“It’s just a tragic situation,” Taylor said. “Our hearts just go out to the family and the community.”

YEA LEAVE THAT WOMAN ALONE.Nobody on here has 20=20 foresite.
This reminds me of a incident that happen a couple years ago in Creedmoor NC. A car hood being pulled behind a pickup on a snow covered highway. The little girl didn’t want to ride it. Her father made her ride anyway. Went around a curve, car hood went into the other lane and hit another vehicle head on.
When I was young, I did stupid things for a thrill. I dare not let my parents know about them. Now it seems parents are offering the thrills for the children.
Yes, I own ATVs, but I believe there should be a limit on how fast they can go. 60 MPH is way to fast for an ATV of any size. Low range gearing is all they need. They are not motorcycles…
Leave that woman alone’
I admire randall for using this board to mention a stolen 4wheeler, and personally, i hope they find his 4 wheeler! and by the way, if ‘register and bee’ had any respect for these type of stories than they would block the ‘comments’ ... they haven’t had problems blocking comments on other stories… now randall?! got any pics of that 4wheeler!?
Randall D…....you said you wrecked on one and was paralized from the neck down due to your being reckless…..but yet you took your small children on rides with you?? You are just as ignorant and irresponsible as this mom. Then you advertise a stolen 4 wheeler? It sounds to me you are not the brightest crayon in the box and need to find another past time other than leaving comments on news stories.
Randall, charged with murder? No. As you said, it was an accident.
Like I’ve said, a tragic situation. I think it would be extrememly difficult to charge her with anything with the price she is now paying. If she was charged, it would probably be child endangerment.

You make it sound as if the mother intentionally killed her child. So is she going to be charged with murder? Why not?
Because it was a tragic accident. Things happen, very bad things. Yes, people can learn from this. But get real people, the Mother was not a murderer. A perfect souls hasn’t walked the earth in a little over 2000 years.
About 4 years ago, I had a friend that had trained her 5 year old how to be a responsible rider, he even had his own little 4 wheeler. He knew how to ride it carefully and always used a helmet. Her 8 year old also had been trained in how to ride responsibly. During a birthday party back then, I let my 5 year old daughter ride with the 5 year old on his small 4 wheeler, knowing that he had been trained. The point being that it is possible for adults and children alike to drive/ride responsibly. The facts presented in this article picture the mother of these children as an irresponsible driver because the mother chose to put not one, but two children on the 4 wheeler with her. The 4 wheeler crashed, a little child is dead, another child is in the hospital, the mom is in the hospital. When I heard this story, my first thought was “What was she thinking?“. While reading the other comments on here, I was both saddened and sickened by the comments that wrote this off as “just a tragic accident” or that “god had wanted another angel”. Where is the compassion for the little boy that lost his life? He wasn’t old enough to understand that ridng was dangerous, he wasn’t old enough to look at his mommy and say “Please don’t kill me today.“ Am I judging the mom? Yes I am. Am I a perfect mother? No, but I have enough sense to practice safety where my children are concerned.
Well said pumpkin07. Like I stated in my previous post, I wish the same sympathy given to this family was extended to all families that have suffered a loss regardless of how the loss occured…violently, accidently, etc. The outcome is still the same a grieving family.
Pumpkin, so well spoken! As I said plain as the nose on someones face! People don’t like hearing the truth, especially if it hurts. But the truth is the truth! And God already knows it!
Shorty that makes it so unreal! On the handlebars???? Oh My goodness!!!!
