10 Pittsylvania County roads to get upgrades

LYNCHBURG — Ten secondary roads in Pittsylvania County will be graded and upgraded after the Virginia Department of Transportation awarded a contract for the projects.

W-L Construction & Paving, Inc. of Chilhowie was awarded a $446,572 contract to pave and upgrade the routes including Davis, Moons, Blacksmith, County, Chestnut and Rockford School roads; Harper and Keesee lanes; Yellow Bird Place and Yorkshire Drive.

The roads are being upgraded as part of VDOT’s Rural Rustic Program, which is to improve safety by upgrading travel surfaces. Minimal delays can be expected.

The projects are scheduled to be completed by June 15, 2010.
