Two adults and one child have been taken to the hospital after a Wednesday afternoon car accident trapped one of the victims in the wreck.

David Hawkins of Ringgold, Tammy Jones of Danville and her nine-year-old child were transported to Danville Regional Medical Center and are all listed in stable condition.

Rescuers spent more than 30 minutes extricating Hawkins from the wreckage.

The two-car wreck happened in the 1500 block of Little Creek Road in Pittsylvania County.

According to Jones, water on the road caused her van to begin hydroplaning, at which point she overcorrected and veered into the lane where Hawkins was driving.

No charges will be filed, and the accident is being attributed to poor driving conditions.
