Locked cash register foils man’s armed robbery attempt

DANVILLE - A man tried to rob the Fas-Mart convenience store on South Main Street in Danville early Tuesday morning but couldn’t get money because the cash register was locked, police said.
The clerk working at the store said the man had an assault rifle and fled the store afterward.
Police responded to the robbery report at 3:15 a.m., a Danville Police Department news release stated.
The man is described as being a white man, approximately 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds. He wore dark pants and a camouflage ski mask.
The man was last seen on foot in the area of the Virginia-North Carolina border.
Police advise anyone who comes in contact with this man to not approach him, as he is considered “armed and dangerous.”

They had an armed robbery back when it was still Express Mart. The video cameras were dummies, just for looks. Then they put new real cameras in. To my knowledge, they work. Damifino why they haven’t released a picture. You can’t even stand in line for the racks of junk inside. The clerks can’t see down the aisles. The store is just junky. I wish they hadn’t sold out to the Fas Mart company. There is no pride in the stores looks. They sell lottery, but there isn’t even room inside to form a line. I feel sorry for the clerks. The gas is higher at this one, than even the FasMart in TightSqueeze. So I just avoid it, except for fueling up my off-road equipment.
Hey The Other Guy, have you been to this store? It’s so crappy they can’t even keep the paper in the machines outside so you can use your card to pay for gas and not have to go inside-of course they can’t invest in cameras!
I agree with not appreoaching him, do not get close to this man. Make sure you have a good scope.
Now now, I am only speaking of doing so if you feel your life is in danger and you are within the law, like he has an assault rifle pointed at you.
Sounds to me like another clerk that needs a little better training.
