Voting went smoothly in Danville
The canvass of votes in Danville was completed and certified Wednesday with only slight differences in the vote totals, according to Danville Registrar Peggy Petty.

That was until a year ago, when James Lynch’s daughter, Sylvia Matthews of Hot Springs, Ark., retrieved a box from her grandmother’s estate after she died. The box was a treasure trove of pictures, papers, articles and letters that belonged to her uncle Paul, who died before she could meet him.
With the help of her local Military Order of the Purple Heart, Matthews researched her uncle’s accomplishments and learned he was entitled to more awards than previously thought. Finally, after 64 years, Paul Lynch received: the WWII Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal & Bronze Star, the WWII Honorable Service Lapel Button, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Gold Star Lapel Button and the Purple Heart.
Public hearing on proposed animal chaining limits
Danville’s pet owners will have their first chance to speak out about a proposed city ordinance that would place limits on how long dogs and cats can be tied up outside.
A public hearing on the ordinance will be held during Thursday night’s regular Danville City Council meeting, and a vote could be taken on Nov. 17.
