Ex-high school coach guilty of indecent liberties

J.R. Tucker High School’s former football coach pleaded guilty this week to three counts of taking indecent liberties with two teenage students.

In a brief hearing in Henrico County Circuit Court, Danville native William Macgregor “Mac” Leighton, 31, acknowledged his guilt in months-long relationships with students 15 and 17.

Feds check out local storm damage

Though continuous rain delivered high waters and flooding to the area last week, Danville and Pittsylvania County escaped major destruction.

There was, however, minor damage at Danville’s wastewater treatment plant and the courthouse in Chatham.

Students get a glimpse of their future

About 400 high school juniors from Danville and Pittsylvania County took a break from their classes Wednesday to glimpse potential professional futures during a career fair at the Institute of Advanced Learning & Research.
